Fun acting and cinematography do evoke strong emotions / reactions in the viewer, which is a good thing.
But there is that rotting smell.
What I do find problematic to say politely is this:
The main characters basically wield their state-approved power to pray on the weakest members of society.
Sucking the blood out of their victims and leaving them to die with the backing of the judge a doctor and other high ranking members of society.
Somehow this seems familiar and quite realistic.
Where do I have seen people use state power to pray on others who are unable to defend them selves ?
Basicly you get picked up at home with a legal warrant and send away to die.
Your belongings now belong to the state (actors).
Just like the people who got picked up from their homes by a police force controlled by national socialists in the city where I live.
The paper work was all there.
You had to buy your own tram ticket, and off you went.
It was all totally legal, right ?
Think about it.
What bothers me is that I get the feeling that somehow the film makers want me to sympathize with the main character and her lover.
Sorry., I don't sympathise with child molesters and people who pray on the elderly.
But she gets killed in the last second of the film ?
What sticks in the unconscious mind of the unaware is: they are sooo cool. So smart. So sexy Yes she got killed but only after a glorious battle where she even outsmarted the coldblooded killers of the Russian maffia.
It worries me quite a lot that the film makers could understand that the unconscious message could very well be quite mallicious.
Fascism is not sexy.
