Species: The Awakening (2007 TV Movie)

Great Movie, wish it was theatrical
21 September 2007
I watched a screener of this film and have to say I was positively surprised. I was expecting a really bad movie, which it wasn't. I thoroughly enjoyed it and think that Helena Mattsson will be a new star after people see her in this. As a Enterprise fan, I also have to admit that I have a soft spot for Dominic Keating. He is so entertaining. I don't know much of Ben Cross's work, but he seems very good and I want to see him in more Sci-fi movies. The plot wasn't bad either, but it was at times a bit underdeveloped. But as a woman, I thought this would be a big booby fest but it wasn't. It was a good movie. I give it a thumbs up and hope that more films come out like it.

Awesome, powerful film!

I really enjoyed this film. It's a dark, realistic and sad film that made me cry several times. When will it finally come out? I especially love the performance given by Chad Lindberg who in my opinion should be a star! He makes you love his character, and brings you to tears. As for the look and feel of the film. It is a very moody, sad movie that puts you in a mood and doesn't want to let you go. Overall I would suggest watching it and letting the story sink in. It's a great drama! It reminds me of growing up and all the pressures put on people who are just trying to do the right thing, but are constantly pounded down by the decisions they make and others make for them. The score is also a very moody, nice sound that matches the constant rain pounding down on the actors. Wow! Check this film out!

Grendel (2007 TV Movie)
10/10
Great for kids! Fun, entertaining and with a lesson.

My son loved it and I wish there were more films like this for kids! Sure it's not perfect animation, but for a kid, it really opens a fantastic world that helps them learn the story of Beowolf. Not 100% accurate, but still fun and it has a good message. I get the feeling that all the people slamming this film are 50 year old historians that can learn from the moral of Grendel, who can't enjoy the laughter of others. Why write essays about something you feel is bad? Put yourselves in the eyes of a child, and then watch it. It's a great movie. Might not be a Harry Potter, but kids don't look at the size of a film. And even I as an adult was well entertained and never bored. I applaud Sci-Fi for creating good films rather than a bunch of dark, violent crime stories. And great job to the actors! The creatures were a bit fake but still fun!

I give it an 8/10 and think kids will love it.
