Lost in Space (2018)
Boring and slow
Mina Sundwall's character Penny has finally got to me. I have watched 4 episodes and her character's constant wisecracks got to me. The writing is very poor and the movement of the series is much too slow. I do believe that it could be better but this production needs new writers. I'll go back to watching maybe the next time it is 40 below zero and I am bored and want to continue to be bored.
Star Trek Beyond (2016)
Poor direction and editing
I was really looking forward to this movie. Being a long term Star Trek fan I didn't expect to be so disappointed.
Scene after scene of unorganized clips. No continuity to the movie and feeling lost in the cgi most of the time.
If and that's a big if, there is another Star Trek movie I hope Justin Lin isn't involved.
Very disappointed in the whole movie from production to final editing. Certainly destined to be a B movie.
I am not going to waste my time tearing it apart any further. You be the judge, but it is a wast of 2 hours of your life.
A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014)
Waste of talent
Seth, Seth. You should have let someone else read the script before money was spent making this. I tried and tried to like it and kept waiting for the funny parts. Kept wanting to walk away from this movie but I couldn't believe that with this much talent in the movie that it wouldn't get better. It didn't. Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson what a great cast. Obviously they did it for the money not the entertainment value. Poorly directed. Incomplete scenes that always leave you expecting more. Cinematography was not bad but that was because of the location. Even if you love Family Guy as I do don't waste your time. Shame on you Mac Farlane.
Revolution (2012)
Slow moving ugh
Started watching this show from the beginning. It had potential. Good plot, decent acting and not bad directing. Well, that didn't last long. After a few episodes into this latest season, I give up. If I had to watch Rachel Matheson - Elizabeth Mitchell stare off into space one more time I was going to poke myself in the eye. Half, no, more than half of her on screen time is staring off in wonderment. Contemplating...what? I know it is not her fault it is the director and the writers. Boring boring. My advise is to please not waste your time on this series. Honestly, it is not worth it and right now I am only typing to get enough in the review to have it posted. But be warned. It sucks.
Elysium (2013)
Very disappointing
Set in the future 140 years from now. Matt Damon, Jodie Foster? Did they even bother to read the script before signing on to do this theatrical mess. OK, cinematography was pretty good but the story line, the acting, the directing... it was terrible. I wasted over an hour and a half watching this and hoping it would get better. It didn't. Very predictable ending and not up to the standards of these two actors. I hate when they sell out just to earn a buck. Whatever you think is going to happen after watching the first minutes of this movie, well congratulations, you are correct. $30 for this movie and I could have bought a bucket of chicken and fries. I recommend the chicken and fries over this movie. I am happy that it was a flop as that is what it deserves to be remember as.
Under the Dome (2013)
Steven King wth
Extremely slow and drawn out plot. I have watched soap operas with more acting skills and I am sorry but this show is lame. Steven, what were you thinking being executive producer of something that is so poorly scripted and directed? I watched way too many episodes hoping that it would get better or more interesting. And no it didn't. Episode 9 and some woman turns up out of nowhere and all of a sudden she is in control of everything. Come on! I really don't have anything else to say about this waste of time poorly written television program but I have to write enough to have this posted so I apologize for this waste of space but I seriously warn you not to spend any time on this program as it is about as worthless as this review. Bye for now.
A Good Day to Die Hard (2013)
Great action movie
I can't believe all the negative reviews and a sub 6 rating. Give me a break. What did people expect? No it is not Training Day acting or Life of Pi cinematography but it is a great action movie. McClane teaming up with his long lost son with a bunch of chase scenes and lots of shooting and explosions. What more could you want. As usual McClane is full of funny comical quips. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and recommend it. If you want a love story watch the Notebook. If you are looking for a good old action movie, watch this. This movie is full of clichés but that is what it is known for. That being said give it a watch.
1600 Penn (2012)
You be the judge, but...
Just another reason cable is out doing network television. We were quite excited to see Bill Pullman in this role. The first couple of minutes gave us a chuckle or two. Then it was downhill from then. The premise of the show sounded appealing and the teaser commercial looked very comical. All the comedy is very cliché and predictable. I sometimes wonder if they actually have a look at these shows before they try to air them in prime time. The funniest of the whole show was the monologue at the end. And even that wasn't that funny. All in all we will give it a second look but I don't hold out a lot of hope. Bill, you should stick to major motion pictures.
Red Tails (2012)
Great cinematography but...
Wow great dogfights but the dialogue and acting, horrible. It was tough getting through this movie. I can't believe Spielberg had anything to do with this.
Cuba Gooding Jr and Terrance Howard must have only signed on to do this movie because of the money. It definitely wasn't for the chance to act in a well written movie. Did they even read the script to see what their lines were before cashing the check?
There is too much of this going on in the theatres now. The movie industry is relying to much on old and well respected names and this is not a good thing.
Anyways, don't spend money to see this. Wait until it is on cable, if it even makes it.
