The Office (2005)
A poor remake of a brilliant show
If you haven't seen the original British series, this might have some enjoyment for an American audience.
If you have seen the original, don't waste the video tape. Where the original was witty and funny, this version seems a bit tired and forced.
Maybe it's just me, though.
Like another reviewer said, if they had taken the concepts and simply moved them to America with new plots, it would have had a chance. I mean every large company has at least 1 boss who thinks he/she's the best boss in the world, while in reality, are horrendous at their jobs. And we can see a bit of our co-workers in the other characters.
The Tournament (2005)
A wonderful mini-series about a kids hockey team, the parents and coaches involved, and their dreams of winning it all in "the big tournament"
This comedic Canadian mini-series shows you all the various types of hockey parent there are, with each at their most extreme. If you have kids in hockey, you can surely see parts of yourself in one or more of these parents.
The kids playing hockey is actually quite a minor part of the series; the parents and coaches are the main characters. Their hilarious interaction is tragic, to the point of comedy in this documentary style series.
The team looses their coach due to heart attack and must find a replacement in order to finish the season, and enter the big tournament. With a couple of parents vying for the coaches position, there's lots of bargaining, sucking up, and backstabbing.
