We Still Kill the Old Way (2014)
Horrible in everyway possible.
Its not the worst film of the year but its close.
This must have been the directors first ever time behind a camera. The acting is vomit and story line just complete disgrace.
I have no idea but casting decide to find the worst 60 year old actors possible to pretend to be tough, but it was like watching your grandad trying to fight your 14 year old cousin after he has had a few. Also why did they cast an American lady as a female detective?? No middle aged ugly ladies acting any more in England. Did she attempt a British accent? (no that would take skill or talent).
The story line revolves around a little gang who kills and one time gangsta, revenge ensues and you are surrounded by charters talking about how the older pricks (who are drug dealers or criminals of some sort) would never let it happen in there day, only these guys are gangstas so wouldn't they of been arseholse in there day?? A horrible cast of wooden acting all through the movie but the shoot out scene in the hospital is so bad i started laughing. So a bunch of teens walk into a hospital with guns in England??? Then who are the first to respond oh just the same police investigating the murder.
Look I can pick this garbage apart all day but its just plain crap.
Jamesy Boy (2014)
A story that goes no where... and slowly
Watched this film knowing nothing about it at all. Sometimes this can be the best thing to do I feel as you have no expectations. Well I still left disappointed. James played by Spencer Lofranco is a troubled kid in America, who has a single mother Mary played by Mary-Louise Parker, thats about it. This kid leaves school, fights and is a idiot gets involved with drugs and goes to jail. In jail he has about 2 scenes with an old man (Ving Rhames) and James is let out of prison and goes straight. I have just told you everything in this film. Honestly nothing happens. This could be about 1,000,000 peoples story in America. Its not interesting and the acting is horrible. During the film the do these cut scenes from his prison to his arrest so I'm waiting for this huge turn of events, or something shocking happen, like he kills his mum or his girl. Nope he just gets jacked by the police and put in jail. The bad part is if you read the movie description it says how he is a young boy befriending an older inmate, they hardly have a scene together and when they do its not very good no chemistry or powerful words of wisdom. This is horrible from start to finish, avoid at all costs but Mary Lousie Parker is still super sexy.
Lone Survivor (2013)
Plenty of Action but poor acting and characters
The worst part of making a true life story real is it needs to feel real this does not from start to finish. For me the devil is in the details. First thing you see in this film is real footage of the brutal training US Seals do, much like the SAS in England and Australia and other elite military out fits, and the people that can complete this training are super human, or super stupid, depending on your stance. This is all real and I hoped that the characters and story would feel real as well, it did not. For starters the location looks like it was shot in America (it was), it looks nothing like Afghanistan. If you have not been then maybe this wont annoy you like it did me, but when you see pine trees you know it does not feel right. Then in the lead up they talk about being bitten by a rattle snake, rattle snakes in Afghanistan come on guys... have some pride. The small shots of FOB's (forward operation Bases) are OK, a little like Afghanistan but this is not a major shooting location. But they may of been the most realistic thing in the film. As for the 4 main characters in the movie they just don't develop or click, there is a small attempt at humanizing one by connecting him to his wife and her love for horses but its very week and even though he is a good looking man Taylor Kitsch is a horrible actor. I have no idea why Peter Berg uses him in lots of stuff. Mark Wahlberg tries very hard in this film but the story is of incompetence and action, throw in a few Hollywood explosions and this is the film. If you want a play by numbers action that was a true story then this might be for you, but for me it felt like a cheap make of what could of been great story.
