Madison Avenue (1961)
Lead pipe bore!
I was stunned to see this film was from the 1960's. I thought they had technicolor by then but nope, it's black and white and bleak and boring. I love old movies but this one just didn't cut the mustard.
Bell Book and Candle (1958)
Interiors!
I love it! I fall into a trance watching this film wishing I were there, at that time. To not be an admirer of mid-century films you must know that they can be slow to reveal. If you bore easily refrain from watching; The Women, Dinner at Eight, My Man Godfrey...or take a "pill" sit back and ENJOY some of the best films ever made! As a designer and owner of a vintage furniture store the interiors of these films inspire and ignite me. In Bell Book and Candle, Kim's apartment was SO COOL!!! It got me back into my African art and artifact collection. Stark, clear, organic, well edited, loft like, sharp. Very Cool!
