Jihad Rehab (2022)
Fascinating subject made entertaining and also moving
This is a touchy subject no doubt but the filmmakers did an excellent job in being sensitive while also being thought provoking. It doesn't take sides or seem biased. Detractors seem to have a big problem that it was even made. As if you can just shut the door to the past and ignore it. The American authorities thought they were righteous but they were corrupt and undeniably made things worse by their actions in their war on terror. This film shows the consequences of those actions on the individuals who faced American debauchery. Some might have offended here. Others did not. The audience is left with hope in the end.
Don't Worry Darling (2022)
A movie so bad they had to invent drama on the press tour to promote jt
It's a complete rip off of Stepford Wives with 2022 Twitter sensibilities. Wilde coasting on her media profile with the overrated Booksmart makes this flick drag as if it's 3 hours. To call it bland and forgettable would be kind. Styles showed promise as an actor in Dunkirk but here he's got little to do and even with that can't match it. Pugh is okay but nothing special. And Wilde tries hard but can't act as usual. The biggest thing about this movie is all the press drama and gossip surrounding it. In the future people will wonder what all the fuss was about as this movie enters the dustbin of history. Wilde in the past said if a movie is bad it's the directors fault. Even with a friendly press this couldn't scrape together a good critics score. Well Olivia, you happy to take responsibility here?
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Best effort from Marvel since Endgame
I was amazed by how good this show is. The actress playing SH is absolutely believable as the title character displaying copious amounts of strength, intelligence and bravery. Hulk was rightly put in the background to let SH shine. And shine she does. Can't believe they didn't think to release this theatrically. This is the best Marvel movie in years really. Looking at how amazing this turned out to he, it makes you wonder if Warners was too hasty in canceling the Batgirl movie they went on to shelve. Don't listen to the naysayers on this. This is a masterpiece.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Alden is better than Harrison ever was
Just came back from movie. Wow was it great. Best Star Wars movie ever. The new Solo is unlike any character in any movie. Old grumpy Harrison can't compete with this new actor.
Darkest Hour (2017)
Oldman looks and sounds nothing like Churchill
I can only think his Oscar win was rewarding a great career rather than based on this role.
Albert Finney and Brendan Gleeson just to name a couple were much better Churchills. This Oscar baiting over acting performance is ridiculous.
Scott Thomas as Clemmy was also poor.
New York'ta Bes Minare (2010)
solid thriller in a 90s style
Having looked at some of the comments and reviews here, I am a little surprised that so many have taken what is pretty much a slightly above average action drama so seriously. Its acted adequately, well shot, points out the ignorance and hypocrisy rife in America without overdoing it. It reminds me of many American movies where Yank cops would go over to another country, or city etc and show the locals how it was done. Definitely got a 90s feel to it this one, no CG, ridiculous American toilet humour of recent years, and an enjoyable change in perspective. Those with complaints about realism and believability are really overdoing it, this is really a Turkish version of an American genre movie
