Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
Pretty bad
I wanted to see this, even with all the bad reviews. At least I didn't spend money on it-got it free through my local library.
I found it pretty boring honestly, it just drags along. I didn't think I'd actually make it to the end, but somehow I did. Unlikeable characters that I didn't really care about. Tissue paper thin plot. And the characters are always making poor decisions.
The animated sequence in the beginning is the most interesting part. Plus there's a few shots of the forest that look pretty creepy and interesting.
No clue why the other characters like Rabbit aren't in this, except for getting a brief mention at the beginning. Lol I guess the writers forgot about them.
The costumes are laughable-not really scary at all.
I can't really recommend this. But if you're curious then check it out. Hopefully you can get it for free.
Bel-Air (2022)
I don't mind the darker, more dramatic version but...
I think it's actually pretty clever to reimagine Fresh Prince of Bel Air into a darker, more dramatic and modern version but....it could have been done better. Better writing, better acting. These are not very likeable characters-especially Carlton. I realize the "loveable goof" that the character was in the 90s tv show wouldn't really fit here but does he have to be so horrible? Seriously no redeeming qualities. I'm honestly not sure why his character was changed so drastically-is there a point? All the other characters are kind of "meh" to me.
I've made it through 4 episodes and I don't know if I want to see more.
I agree with the earlier review that called this the "nightmare version".
God's Not Dead (2014)
Not sure what I just watched...
First, I'm a Christian. I wanted to see this movie because I was curious and, despite the poor reviews, I wanted to make up my mind about it. Wow, it's definitely not very good. Heavy-handed propaganda doesn't begin to describe it. I literally felt like I was being whacked upside the head at times while watching this. The movie really dragged, too. Even just watching it at home I was bored halfway through & kept checking my phone for something to do. The characters in this movie, oh gosh, I don't even know what to say. Hardly any have any redeeming qualities. The main guy is OK, that's it. His (ex) girlfriend is the most annoying person ever with her "choose me, I'm the most important thing in your life" attitude. And of course she breaks up with him when he turns his attention to preparing for the debate against his prof. Seriously, I can't understand her attitude. They've been together 6 years and I'm going to assume he's been a Christian for that period of time. But this is supposedly news to her that his faith is very important. Anyway, all the scenes with her were really annoying. The prof was just awful. No redeeming qualities. I didn't even sympathize with him after finding out his mom died when he was a kid. You can tell he's still carrying a lot of pain but the way the character is written it's hard to even somewhat like him. His first confrontation (outside his classroom) with Josh was just so over the top, with him practically threatening Josh. It's incredibly hard to believe a professor would act like that & also hard to believe the student wouldn't go right to the Dean or someone to complain. The arrogant, go-getter lawyer was so annoying. Mean, petty, nothing to like. I actually really like Dean Cain and am sad he was cast as this horrible character. And his girlfriend? What was up with her?? There was barely a point to her character. All she did was "interview" (more like throw ridiculous questions and accusations) at well-known Christians who happen to stroll into town. And one of her targets is the Duck Dynasty guy!!! No kidding, the movie lost me there! I was like, what is even going on??? Meh, not going to check out the sequel to this ever. I don't even know the point of making a sequel to this.
10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)
Amazing movie!! I was on the edge of my seat
No spoilers here!! :) I highly agree with everyone who has already said do yourself a favour & just go see this movie without knowing anything about it first!
You'll be thankful you did.
All the actors were excellent. So much tension builds between them. One of the best movies I've seen in a while & it will no doubt stick in my mind for a long time.
Soundtrack was excellent too.
I'm hoping we don't have to wait 8 years for the next instalment. I liked the ending & I'm very curious to see what will happen next!
The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)
Is it over yet????
This is the question I kept asking as I was watching this thing. Admittedly, I'm not a Star Wars fan. I've seen the 80s movies with my dad, basically ignored the newer ones from the 90s/2000s. The one yet to be released looks interesting, I may give it a shot. But words cannot describe this Holiday Special. I found it really boring, yet so weird that I couldn't look away. I'm really glad I'm not a Star Wars fan because this would have completely ruined it for me. The musical numbers are so forced & out of place it's ridiculous. There's barely a plot and it doesn't make sense most of the time anyway. Lol at the end where they're literally marching into the sun! What was that??? The song at the very end--oh my gosh! Too syrupy & sweet for me. Only watch this if you're like me & you like weird, bizarre movies. It's like a train wreck-- you won't be able to look away.
The Fault in Our Stars (2014)
Good movie... I had issues with certain parts though...
I wanted to really love this movie, I heard people rave about it. It's good, not great in my opinion. It is a touching love story but overall a bit too contrived. I mean, we know from practically minute one that someone will die by the end. I thought the Europe trip was sweet and lovely. Oh and I loved the soundtrack too--thought the songs used were beautiful. But I can't get over certain parts of this movie that were just weird/strange/over-the-top. First, as others have pointed out the scene in the Anne Frank house where Gus and Hazel kiss for the first time and everyone claps. Oh my gosh, really??? I actually said that out loud to my friend while watching this. Come on, how on earth do total strangers know (or care, even) that that's their first kiss??? I'm still shaking my head at that part. And the writer they visit because they love his book so much. I don't really know what was the point of that subplot. It goes nowhere because the writer is rude to them, then they all start yelling and Gus & Hazel leave. What? They accomplish nothing. And speaking of the writer--I'm so tired of the stereotype that artists/writers/etc are depressed, MAJOR loners, dependant on alcohol or drugs and are just plain weird. I'm a visual artist and I don't appreciate this crazy stereotype. You could tell from practically the instant Gus and Hazel meet the writer at his home that it's not going to go well. And how he randomly shows up at the funereal is just weird and creepy. I mean, he came all the way from Europe, who would do that?? Of course he tries to be nice to Hazel and explain stuff and she just screams at him. Again, nothing is accomplished with this scene. What's the point? I know he gives her the letter but still--could have been a better & more believable scene. And the last scene I can't get my head around is the part where they show up (in broad daylight!!!) to throw eggs at the (gorgeous green!) car of the one guy's ex. Seriously--this part bothers me to no end. The woman comes out of the house, sees the eggy car and-- just GOES BACK INSIDE??!!!! Ummmm, what about calling the cops or at least threatening to?? Especially after Gus tells her this is basically revenge. The kids don't seem to get in the slightest trouble at all for doing this to the (beautiful green!) car. I have seriously mixed feelings about this movie. I'd give the book a shot though, generally I find the books are better than the movies they're based on.
Die unendliche Geschichte III: Rettung aus Phantasien (1994)
Absolute trainwreck!
I checked this movie out earlier today out of curiosity after reading the reviews on here. Wow!! I'm still shaking my head over how incredibly bad it is!! Too bad I can't give this movie a 0. All the reviews are true. At least I saw it for free on youtube so the only thing I lost was time. Well that and braincells. I didn't even care about the characters, not any of them. This movie is incredibly boring-- non-existent plot & nothing makes sense. The characters are annoying, one-dimensional & too cartoony. The whole movie is a weird combination of trying to be funny & hip but serious at the same time, which of course fails because the viewer can't make heads or tails of this mess. This miserable excuse for a sequel doesn't belong on the same planet as the wonderful original, which i'll always love & can't wait to see again!!
