Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022)
Do not watch the trailer, go in blind
So so beautiful and lovely, just a fantastic story, no special effects or grandeur. An easy watch and it went by so quickly, grabbed me from start to finish.
Just a charming tale, I watched the trailer after watching this movie and I was so glad I just gave this a shot in the dark otherwise I'd have not had the joy of the journey she entails.
It's so hopeful and lovely, and she has so much tenacity, it's in the same vain as Shirley valentine.
It's not simply about buying a dress. It's so much more than that. It's about discovering yourself.
The end had me sobbing.
I recommended it to my 50 year old brother and he felt exactly the same!
Pinocchio (2022)
Literally the cartoon but digitally animated.
I'm one of those who always wonder why remake movies get trashed when they bring something new to the table and often think they are instantly unfairly judged before they've even been given a chance.
They won't have the magic of the original but it's nice to see the story re told and perhaps parts that weren't possible to fully be given justice due to the technology given a lease of life.
This story, it's literally the same as the cartoon. I really thought the puppet show would be a show stopper. I was really looking forward to it. And it was quite short. Same as a lot of pleasure island. It looked amazing seeing what it would really look like but that was about it.
If I'd have not seen the original. I'd have had no care for the characters, as I don't think besides jimeny cricket they were developed. (And I must add Joseph Gordon levitt was great)
I do understand the original is a very jumbled film, but this is where I feel an opportunity was missed, to dot the i's and cross the t's.
It wasn't bad, but Disney do not help themselves with these weak remakes.
