Malik (2021)
Bind blowing!!!
One of the best crime/drama movies post Nayagan!!
Cinematography : outstanding.
Music : Elevates the scenes
Acting : Fahad nailed it to perfection
Overall, the narrative, single shot scene, performances, and the plot makes it easily the best movie of 2021.
Magamuni (2019)
One of the finest movies of 2019!
The movie revolves around "Maga" and "Muni" both the roles played by Arya. To begin with, the movie starts with a man being in an asylum. Then it moves on to the lives of the two individuals and how their paths intersect at a juncture. The stand out things in this movie are editing, BGM, and screenplay. Although many people may feel that the narration might be a bit slow, I differ from this opinion and according to me, it the narration which keeps audience guessing about the story line. Overall, this movie is another milestone for the director after Mounaguru.
A must watch for every cinema lover.
Robin Hood (2010)
Less engaging!
The movie started with great expectations. However, the screenplay started to lag and deviate from the main content after the protagonist travels to Nottingham. The self identity and the love scenes are the major drawbacks. As a result, the director tries to cope up with the mess, and try to make the movie engaging in the pre-climax portion. Nonetheless, he fails miserably. Invariably, making this movie a one time watch.
Pros:
The protagonist and the lead actress delivers their best.
Cons:
Lagging.
The action sequence during the climax would have been better.
Blood Diamond (2006)
Blood diamond! One of the best movies I have watched in my entire life
One of the best movies of all time. Although the movie is 2.5 hours, the screenplay keeps one to the edge of the seat throughout the movie. It's engaging, intriguing and fascinating. The director depicts real life scenario of African people. All the characters are well sketched, especially, the lead roles. Even the dialogues are crisp and solid. Moreover, the background score and sound mixing are terrific. Overall, this movie is never short of a masterpiece.
Badla (2019)
Badla (Revenge) in disguise
When Amitabh, Tapsee and Sujoy join together, the anticipation would be sky high. After the huge success of Kahani (one of the best thriller movie), Sujoy Ghosh had collaborated with Tapsee. The film revolves around the mysterious death of 2 people. The conversation between Tapsee and Amitabh is what makes the movie intriguing. Although the movie was less engaging due to some screenplay mess, the performance of 2 lead actors fills the bean. Overall, a well made thriller that would have been better if the scenes were more gripping.
Unda (2019)
Unda (Bullet) in disguise
The core concept intrigued me to watch this movie. While the story holds very realistic till the end, I found the screenplay a bit lagging. Firstly, the visuals were spectacular. The difficulties faced by policemen on this expedition is captured brilliantly. Now coming to the artists - Mammooty, the versatile actor we all knew, needs to mention about his acting abilities. The character artists have also done a pretty decent job. One of the major drawbacks which I found was: 1. The background score does not creates an impact, instead it was annoying.
2. The main theme where Maoists. They were touted as the terrified people throughout the film were never show up.
Conclusion: kudos to the director for coming up with such a out of box content.
Watch it once for Mammooty and other side artists and for its realistic take on the topic.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
Visual spectacle!
The franchise of Harry Potter comes with the second instalment in the name of Fantastic Beasts : Crimes of Grindelwald. The movie starts from where it left out from the first part. The escape sequence of Grindelwald is choreographed nicely. Apart from the CGI, I found this movie is little engaging. The screenplay would have been better. However, the climax makes up to the lagging and leaves audience with a anticipation of what will happen next between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.
Chernobyl (2019)
Slow poison! One of the best series
One of the best series I have watched so far. The technical explanation was fantastically choreographed. All the characters were very well written. Even a character with less screen time creates an impact. Overall a must watch miniseries.
The Imitation Game (2014)
The movie is puzzled between autobiography and a thriller
The movie starts with the note as "based on true story", but it gets puzzled between autobiography and a thriller. Even though Benedict's brilliant performance on screen doesn't help to keep the movie highly engaging. I expected more screen time of thriller once the protagonist cracks the Enigma. Overall a satisfactory one which could have been better.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Fitting finale to our superhero's
For the past 11 years MCU has been increasing their fan base across the globe with larger than life characters.
Avengers : End Game: With the expectations sky high, the Russo brothers delivered a fitting finale to this franchise.
What worked:
1. The emotions were very well connected with the audience.
2. Jaw dropping CGI and VFX.
3. The last battle.
What could have been better:
1. Screenplay a bit slow.
2. The war sequence could have been a bit lengthier.
Overall, this experience is for a life time and hence everyone should enjoy this wonder movie in IMAX
