Our Father (2014)
A hard-hitting emotional film
"Our Father" touches on several important social and personal issues beyond dementia which gives it a depth and impact rarely conveyed by a short film. Emotionally gripping from the start, the story is powerful, flawlessly delivered by the cast and effectively presented by the director.
A shocking reveal sends the story in a new direction and explains the behavior of Michael Gross' character, John, without excusing it. Michael's handling of this complex character was outstanding.
The portrayal of the hell a family is going through and how it's pulling them together instead of tearing them apart was realistic and emotionally deep. The way Michael Worth (Jared) captured the conflicted feelings of his character around this was incredible.
The delivery of character by Eileen Grubba and David Topp (Kate and Danny) also touched me -- a teen boy's mature and sensitive handling of a difficult situation, a mother's pride and spirit.
Not to be missed. You'll be thinking about this story for days later.
