The Fall Guy (2024)

I AM SO GLAD THAT THIS FILM WAS GOOD! ... From the trailer, I wasn't so sure. The Fall Guy is really funny, even laugh out loud at times and I ended up genuinely caring about the characters.

Oh and what a soundtrack! Some great song choices here from The Darkness to Phill Collins and some country song in the credits? I don't know but it worked.

Here is Ryan Gosling AGAIN proving why he is one of the best in Hollywood. His and Emily Blunts chemistry together is sublime.

The action hits! And there is plenty of it. The story works, slightly over complicated? Yes but overall very clever and investing which is surprising for an action comedy.

Loved this film a lot more than I expected to and it's definitely something I can rewatch over and over again.

Abigail (2024)

Exactly what it says on the tin!

Just from the trailers alone I was so excited to see this! And thankfully, it delivers!

Abigail is funny, gory and packed full with a brilliant cast such as Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton and Kevin Durand.

Radio silence have given us another great horror film that adds to their already impressive resume (READY OR NOT & SCREAM)

2024 is shaping up to be an amazing year for horror.

Abigail is played by Alisha Weir who you may have seen in the movie musical Matilda. She is the standout of this film. She nails the comedy moments, ballerina stunts and acting as the sweet and innocent victim throughout the start of the film.

Abigail is also the last film to include Angus Cloud, R. I. P.

Mike Flanagan returns with The Fall of the House of Usher!

Another complex, intriguing and well executed horror mini series. I have been a huge fan of his previous work Hill House, Bly Manor & Midnight Mass so I was extremely excited to start this one. And it did not disappoint!

Great to see so many actors from his previous series return as well as new faces like Bruce Greenwood.

House of Usher follows doomed siblings, Roderick and Madeline Usher and the dark secrets that even their wealth and privilege can't keep buried.

The series reimagines and remixes several works by Edgar Allan Poe in a modern setting.

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

A future cult classic!

The fifth instalment to the Evil Dead franchise is definitely a favourite! I've just seen it for the second time and absolutely loved it, yet again. I can definitely say it's the best film since Hereditary (2018) ... Barbarian (2022) is another favourite of recent years.

I cared for the characters, the whacky, slightly torn family were really one to root for.

The plot was probable and didn't fall into silliness like a lot of horror films do.

The change of location was a fresh take. From a broken down old cabin to a LA crummy apartment building.

The gore!!! Well, the gore was amazing. Cheese graters to eating glass! It didn't hold back for one second.

Got to add as well that the trailer did NOT give too much away! If you think you've seen the film just from the trailer? Then you are wrong.

Can we also please appreciate how this film was shot? The camera spirals though the hallways and slow close ups, just so brilliant. You can tell the cast and creative must have had such a great time making this film.

WWE Royal Rumble (2023 TV Special)

10x better than 2022's royal rumble!

Men's Royal Rumble match... 9/10 A solid royal rumble. Full of great entrants, a rumble moment that will be remembered for a long time and a very worthy winner! (Cody Rhodes) The 2022's mens rumble was a huge miss with Shane McMahon in charge so it was a huge relief to get this great Rumble match that I can rewatch over and over.

Women's Royal Rumble match... 8/10 Like the men's rumble previously, this was another solid bout with a fantastic winner (Rhea Ripley) this match also had one of the best final 3 I've ever seen in a women's rumble with a cool and creative ending.

LA Knight Vs Bray Wyatt... 1/10 Complete trash. A waste of time and yet another wasted PPV match for the extraordinary Bray Wyatt.

Alexa Bliss Vs Bianca Belair... 5/10 Basically a bit of a dud. Never got going and it was just a wasted opportunity. These 2 talent's definitely could have had a better match. PUT ALEXA BACK ON TOP!

Roman Reigns Vs Kevin Owens... 8.5/10 A bit of a slow burner! The match got interesting about 5minutes in and the rest of it was just brilliant. Brutal, but brilliant. With a great climactic ending to one of the best storylines WWE have put on in years.

Overall rating 7.5/10

That '90s Show (2023– )

Better than expected but nothing original.

It's pretty good! Gives me similar vibes to what Fuller House was to Full House. Whilst it's not as good as that 70's show, it's a worthy prequel! The new characters are worth investing your time into and caring about. Most of which seem to be pretty new at acting. Wouldn't be surprised if Netflix cancel it after a season or two but I'll definitely give the second season ago if it gets one.

Plot... The show centers on Leia Forman, the teenage daughter of Eric Forman and Donna Pinciotti, forming bonds with other teenagers as she spends the summer of 1995 with her grandparents, Red and Kitty in Point Place, Wisconsin, two decades after the events of That '70s Show.

Series 1 - 7/10.

Matilda: The Musical (II) (2022)

A breath of fresh air

As a huge fan of the stage production, I've seen Matilda the musical in London a few times. I was so excited to hear that the musical was going to get a film adaptation. And I'm very glad that this one works! Unlike the Dear Evan Hansen and Cats movie for example. This film is so beautifully cast, everyone fits their role perfectly. Emma Thompson is wonderful in everything! Playing Miss Trunchbull is no exception.

2 songs from the stage version didn't make the cut here which is a shame but at a 2hour run time, I think the film would have become too long to include them. Hopefully they will be released online or as a dvd/blu ray special feature at some point.

Matilda the musical is full of fun, heart and incredible music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. If you love the original 1996 movie of Matilda, then definitely give this a chance. If you're new to seeing this, then I hope you enjoy it just as much as I did.

The Wonderful World of Disney: Geppetto (2000)

Season 3, Episode 12

Unknown and underrated

I grew up watching this TV movie and to this day I still enjoy it. So many happy memories. The story is wonderful and has a great ensemble cast. Some truly beautiful original songs as well, written by musical theatre giant Steven Schwartz. Find this film and watch it! It's perfect for what it is.
