Into the Badlands (2015–2019)

My town got invaded by promo posters for this show and I remember thinking : Like anyone will wake up at 5 am to see it . Lucky there is a rerun at a more reasonable hour.

I have been hooked to this show from episode 1. I love the world they created : barons , cogs , trained killers , roaming bandits , opulent southern USA houses , beautiful landscape , a mix of technology and myths.

There was a war. Most technology and knowledge is lost . From the ashes 7 barons raised to control the land with armies of fighters called clippers.

Guns are banned so fights are up close and personal with a vast array of sharp objects used as weapons. Is just a pleasure to watch .

The main character is very likable and I don't think there is anyone who doesn't root for him.

I hope we get more seasons because seeing Sunny fight can never get boring.

Jupiter Ascending (2015)

"In a bright and colorful future, a young destitute caretaker gets targeted by a ruthless son of a powerful family that live on a planet in need of a new heir, so she travels with a genetically engineered warrior to the planet in order to stop his tyrant reign."

Who wrote this ? Is totally wrong. The action does not happen in the future , the powerful family does not need a new heir and the protagonist is kidnapped and tries to survive. This may result in stopping the reign of a tyrant but is more of a side effect of her fighting for her life.

Wachowskis created a vast universe , very extravagant but cruel. In this universe the human race is ancient, very technologically advanced and if you are rich you can virtually be young and beautiful forever.

Among the noble families the Abrasax family is the most powerful . After the violent death of their mother each of the 3 heirs received a part of the universe as inheritance .

Earth is owned by the older brother Balem and is something like a cattle farm from where the people will be harvested to produce an eternal life elixir. Balem is hated and envied by his younger siblings that look for ways to diminish his fortune . The opportunity presents itself when on Earth the genetic reincarnation of their mother is discovered . Genetic reincarnations are rare but in event that this might happen the Abrasax matriarch left in her will the title to Earth to her future self.

The visuals in this movie are outstanding and it has one the best use of 3D technology I saw in years, the action is fantastic, the costumes are stunning , there are soldiers spliced with animal DNAs and amazing ships and technology I wish someone can make reality (flying boots and wings).

Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum have a good on screen chemistry but the dialog is awful, it makes you want to cover your ears. Is incredible that the people who imagined this incredible complex universe also wrote such stupid lines for the actors.

I loved the ending that gives humanity the chance to start again and do things better this time. Earth is no longer a farm but an independent planet where life can evolve without outside influence.

Mortdecai (2015)

Lord Mortdecai is a clumsy art dealer on the verge of bankruptcy with a beautiful, smart wife and a loyal servant that gets him out of trouble.

Is been a long time since I found a comedy worth go see in the cinema .

I am not a movie critic . For me a movie is good if I don't regret the money I paid on the ticket. This movie was entertaining , I laughed and we were not the only ones that enjoyed it , everybody laughed.

Is not the best movie ever made but is fun.

If you just want to relax ,go see it. Frequent references to sex and sexual organs make it unsuitable for families with children.

If I had to compare this movie with another it would be The Pink Panther.

Outlander (2014– )

I never read the books and never heard anything about this story before I saw the show. I don't know how close it comes to the books but as a show is absolutely fantastic.

Everything was done right , actors , costumes, music and the scotsmen in kilts are so sexy . I am in love.

We have beautiful landscapes , music to match , time travel , an intelligent mature woman as a lead character and two attractive men that love her . I like the romance part and the history part. I like everything about this show.

I wish they add some subtitles . I don't know how well native English speakers understand the Gaelic but English is not my native language and I could not understand a word in Gaelic.

Dominion (2014–2015)

As far as I can see people love or hate this show. There aren't many moderate opinions in the reviews. I can see why people who are religious may be offended by the idea that angels can turn evil and try to kill people and God would just leave but you should try to relax and not take it so seriously .

I love this show. The actors do a decent job, I like the characters , there are many ways they can develop the plot and the special effects are not so bad (I like the wings).

So God disappeared , no one knows where and why, and Gabriel and many other angels blame humans for it . Gabriel thinks God was very disappointed in humans but didn't had the heart to send another flood or something to kill them so he just left so he does not have to see them anymore . They say that hell is not fire but the pain of not being in the presence of God (or something like that) so probably for the angels in this show who spent all their life in the presence of God to suddenly be alone must be hell. That can make someone go a little crazy.

I am looking forward to the next episodes . I can't wait to see what the Whele family will do next in their quest to control the town, find out more about other towns and the tattoos . I hope we get to see Michael fight a lot in the future .

There is also talking about some black worshipers in town . It looks like some people worship Gabriel now as God and William Whele may be one of them.

If God leaving was a test many angels and humans are failing it.

Divergent (2014)

Is a well done movie even if it is far from perfect .

Unlike the first Hunger Games this one managed to make me get emotionally involved . My major complain is that the other initiates are just invisible , no time was spent to develop those characters and their relationship with Tris. If the other books are made into movies this will be a problem because some of those people have important roles to play .

I sow other people complain that there is no sense of urgency and that may make the movie a bore . I think that this is caused by the fact that they wanted to get a good rating so there is a lot less death, violence and injury in the movie then in the book . In the book kids fall jumping from the train and a boy is mutilated to get him out of the competition.

I agree they could have done a better job showing the pressure the character has to endure but it wasn't boring. If she fails to be accepted in Dauntless she will be thrown out on the streets and on top of that her life is in danger since divergents are killed .
