The Power (I) (2021)
7/10
Good movie! Screenplay should have been better. Watchable for Vidyut and story
15 January 2021
Its a copy of Godfather, but honestly, director Mahesh Manjrekar doesn't disappoint as he keeps the proceedings fast paced with twists. The series of misunderstandings that takes place between Shruti and Vidyut is shown well. On the flipside, there is lot of violence and blood shed. Also I was not satisfied with the climax and some elements of screenplay, but overall it was a good time pass movie. Vidyut's fight scenes are always good to watch. Shruti Haasan was very good. Pratik Babbar was over the top. Other supporting actors were fine. There is also ex cricketer Salil Ankola playing a henchman. Was surpirsed to see him take such a lousy role. If you like action movies and Vidyut Jamwal, then do watch it.

A borefest! terrrible movie.
7 June 2020
Anurag Kashyap missed it big time. Be it script, direction, story and editing, the movie sinks in each category. It's only for Saiyami Khers sincere attempt, that one can sit through the film. Rest of the actors leave no impact whatsoever. Their roles are not developed properly. Roshan Mattews character was also not properly written. He was repulsive. Amruta Subhash has overacted a lot. A good actor like Upendra Limaye is wasted in a lousy role. The dialogues are below average. The Background music was really good. Honestly, apart from Saiyami kher and the good background score, there is nothing worth appreciating in this propa-ganda movie. Pl don't waste time in watching it. A big let down.

Joker (I) (2019)
10/10
Top Class movie about a disturbed human being who becomes a Criminal Mastermind
2 October 2019
Joker is a great film! don't miss it guys, has to be seen on the big screen. Its dark, disturbing, directed superbly by Todd Phillips and acted brilliantly by Joaquin Phoenix.

The movie is setup to take place in 1980s, starts off by showing the old Warner Bros Logo which was pretty cool. the production design is first rate with excellent cinematography, every single frame is beautifully shot and a treat to watch. Its a slow burner but not boring at all.

Film is a character study of a person- Arthur Fleck who is battling loneliness, depression, living a life and eventually loses his sanity & goes on to become a criminal mastermind -Joker. The whole story is nicely crafted for the big screen. It completely absorbs & keeps you engaged. Screenwriter has done a fab job. Also the background music is superb..its chilling & perfectly syncs with the dark tone of the movie.

Joaquin Phoneix proves he is one of the greatest actors. He is on par with Sir Daniel Day Lewis. His performance is as good as Heath Ledger although this Joker is different than the one we saw in Dark knight. Both are iconic performances. Just like Ledger, Phoneix deserves an oscar. He has given it all in this movie. There is also the great Robert De Niro who plays Murray, a host of a comedy show. At 77, he is so graceful and has a great screen presence.

There is no CGI/special effects or any prolonged action sequences like we get to see in any DC or Marvel movie. Its not even a thriller. Its a brilliant character study. There is also some gruesome action scenes and some shocking twists.

A must watch for every movie lover. Thankyou Todd Phillips, Joquin Phoenix & team for giving us the best origin story of the most loved and iconic onscreen villian.

Audience was delighted and clapped at the end of the movie!

Amazing horror movie with a gripping story, lot of chills & thrills and good acting
12 November 2017
Amazing movie & finally a Hindi horror flick which matches up to Hollywood standards of films like Conjuring & Oculus! The movie is directed by debutant Milind Rau and he does a fab job...we get lot of thrills and scary scenes with a gripping storyline. The film is also shot beautifully in the Himalayan valley and there are some breathtaking shots. The film stars Siddharth & Andrea Jeremiah in the leading roles & both have done a great job. There is also veteran actor Atul Kulkarni who was as usual natural & actress Anisha Victor who was damn impressive. The background score was good too. It was a great exp to watch it on the big screen. Highly recommended.

Masterpiece!!! Great way to end the trilogy
15 July 2017
War of the planet of the apes is a mind blowing film!... Its an epic masterpiece & a great way to end the trilogy of this wonderful franchise. The story is so well developed & directed brilliantly by Matt Reeves who is going to make the next batman movie..he is an incredible director. There is not a single scene which feels out of place. The main highlight here is the live motion capture work of the apes...it is perfect! Hats off to the genius technicians and all those wonderful actors who have acted as the apes. Special mention to Andy Serkis who plays the protagonist- Ceaser. Its a great cinematic feat! The villain played by Woody Harrelson was fantastic. Also the photography is splendid in the film....some of the shots are breathtaking. Visual effects and action scenes were spectacular...there is an avalanche scene in climax which is jaw dropping. Lastly the Background music is superb and adds depth to the scenes. The success of the film is that it perfectly balances good story telling along with the stunning visual effects which is rare to see in movies of this scale.

Great Story, brilliant direction and terrific performances makes this film so good!
11 June 2017
The Exception is a terrific romantic thriller - a film about espionage and romance. Brilliantly directed and written, this film surprisingly turned out to be a great watch & one of the best movies i have seen this yr..It has an intriguing premise amidst backdrop of world war 2. The film has excellent production design, shot beautifully & has some really fine performances. Actors Laily James and Jai Courtney look terrific on screen and share great chemistry. Sr actor Christopher Plummer who plays kaiser the II gives a heartwarming performance and brings in some light moments. all supporting actors did great job. the background music was also very good. do watch this film...Its R rated so not for kids. Logan (2017)

A truly great film!!! must watch for the phenomenal performance of hugh jackman
20 May 2017
Saw logan and i am blown away! Its a masterpiece & the best superhero movie from the marvel cinematic universe...hats off to the screenplay writer and director. Hugh Jackman gives a career best performance as the old, wornout superhero. A truly great and a moving performance from him. The real surprise was the little girl Laura played by Dafne Keen. She was so awesome in the movie. all other supporting actors were very good. stunts and visual effects are first rate, action sequences are brutal but superly choreographed. i rate this film higher than civil war and all other superhero movies from marvel. indeed this is a masterpiece. A great send off to a legendary character. Hugh Jackman will remain the best on screen wolverine for a long long time! He will be missed. Rating- 5/5

Haraamkhor (2015)
7/10
Good movie which explores bold subject in an interesting way
13 January 2017
Haraamkhor- Movie explores a bold subject in an interesting way....but somewhere fails to hold interests levels throughout. However, its enjoyable in parts and what really makes it watchable is the terrific performance of nawaazuddin. He gives us some real Lol moments in the film which any other actor couldn't have been able to deliver with the same timing...the female lead played by shweta tripati does well...never knew she is a 31 year old lady playing a 15 year old gal in the film.. .not bad.. The screenplay is bit sloppy and few of the scenes involving the 2 little prankster boys should have been chopped off.. .its intended to bring in humour but felt over the top and unnecessary at some places... Overall this film can be given a try for the different kind of subject it offers.

Frank & Lola (2016)

Awesome movie!! must see for the acting and story by matthew ross
10 December 2016
Frank & Lola- honestly i fell in love with this movie the moment i saw the poster. It looked like an intense love story and it was! i enjoyed watching this film. Debutant director Matthew Ross proves he has talent & he did a decent job considering his first movie. Wont be revelaing the plot as it will spoil the fun for those wanting to see it. Micheal Shannon is such a terrific actor. He played the possessive and intense lover superbly... I fell in love with actress Imogen Poots...such a beauty <3 ..even she has given a fantastic performance. Both have dynamic chemistry on screen. Its a 80 min crisp movie and i liked the way the movie ended..IMO it took the film to another level. Highly recommend to watch this film for the acting and story.
