Deliciously offbeat combined with classic black comedy tropes
25 July 2019
If you enjoyed the episode of Atlanta where LaKeith's character picks up a used piano then this movie is for you. It captures the very same oddness of Donald Glover eating a soft boiled ostrich egg while pretending to be his own brother, but also combines it with the wacky nature of the classics of black comedy. Very enjoyable, and the build-up of understated insanity is gauged perfectly so that the suspension of disbelief is never compromised. Very well done, I definitely recommend!

Lacks motivation
5 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I found the setting, a post-modern house which seems to be located in the countryside utterly separated from any civilization, quite interesting. It elicits memories, whether real or manifested, of playing in the almost limitless, and more or less deserted, area as a child. The twin boys are interesting to watch, expressive even in silence. The mother is adequate, and portrays the vagueness required of the part.

The story is light, however, and lacks motivation. Moving along lazily, one is not especially encouraged to continue watching. There is a twist near the end, but it is almost overshadowed by the torture aspect, which manifests itself during the interrogation portion of the film. Over all, I do not recommend if you are looking for a good scare.

Almost perfect
22 December 2018
I love this film. It would be a 10 but for the unfortunate portrayal of the Asian neighbor by Mickey Rooney. Nothing against Mr Rooney, and I understand that "times were different," but whenever he is on screen in that ridiculous makeup and hokey accent/ mannerisms I can't help but cringe. Do yourself a favor and disregard these portions because the rest of the film is excellent.

It's never cliche, and the characters are actually interesting unlike most romantic movies. Well written, well acted (for the most part) and well executed. Everyone should be able too say they've seen Breakfast at Tiffany's.
