Halloween Kills (2021)
Are We Done Yet?
This movie had way too much exposition. This movie explained TOO much. Like the viewer never saw the first film. I hated all the "old" characters and how everyone wanted to chat chat about their regrets. I wanted Michael to win because EVERYONE pissed me off. Everyone calling him the boogeyman was dumb. The lynch mob was weird and lackluster. Every character talking about a slasher movie myth inside the movie was lame. Scream did it 1000% better. Please let this be the last because all the talking bored me to tears.
Candyman (2021)
Worth a Red Box Rental but That's It
This film had potential but missed tge mark for me. What worked? The film was beautifully shot. It was great to look at and the score was good. The cast can act and the humor was perfect. I loved the puppets telling the history. I even enjoyed the call backs to the first film.. Now, that's all I liked.
The writing did not work. There's so much social commentary that's its beaten into the viewers face. The writer spells out racism like we're new to planet earth. The film is a slow burn the builds the last five minutes. The last 5 were what I wanted a hour of the movie to be. I think the ending was rushed and the opportunity to see Tony Todd was wasted. I wanted to hear his voice and see his face but the writers did the opposite. The story had too many plot holes and it wasted a chance to breath life in this story.
I enjoyed Get Out but I hate.d Us. I'm really getting a Shyamalan feel from Peele.
The Final Wish (2018)
Waste of talent
Lin Shaye is great but she couldn't improve a weird script, poor direction, and flat cast. The idea of a wishes causing more harm than good is a old concept. This film has no grasp of language or speaking cadence. Actors like Melissa Bolona are painfully awful to sit through. Her acting is boarder lined que card reading and a soap opera. She's obviously related to someone because this is the second filmed I saw her bleed through. Include a slow climax and sloppy editing, this movie makes Wishmaster a oscar winner.
