The Musketeers (2014–2016)
7/10
Unrealistic period drama, more of a soap opera with bad action scenes
11 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is a soap opera placed in an anachronistic 17th century Paris with lots of unrealistic action scenes. Poor characters (have almost nothing in common with Dumas' characters), poor acting (few exceptions), action scenes that sometimes resembles a ballet, and other times the "bad guys" just waiting to be killed.

This TV series doesn't take itself too serious (which is OK, Dumas' books were on the same tone), but they include serious themes (like slavery, women's place in society etc.) that brake the rhythm.

If you don't care for realism in a period drama you probably can enjoy this production, otherwise it should be avoided.
