No depth, poor character development and cheesey script. Story is predictable - I think the trailer sums it all up! Save your lockdown bingeing for something else.

Disappointing - had to struggle through first episode

Was familiar and a fan of the writer's previous work so was surprised at how disappointing this series is.
Poorly scripted humour.. not very convincing acting and heavy repetition of the same themes but not with any particular flair.
What is happening at Netflix?.. there seems to be so many 3/4s out of 10 nowadays..

Trying hard to like this but...

I'm sure Madrid has an amazing music history from the time of the revolution - but there was no evidence of this here. The choice of cigarettes and even the furniture gave it all away.
Didn't feel anything from this quasi-"period drama": characters were weak, storyline vacant, and styling/aesthetic was a disaster- at least they could have placed budget on authentic hairstyling and wardrobe - but it felt like a poor effort of a fancy dress party in Marbella...
Music is a powerful narrative, and I'm disappointed that the first episode wasn't held together by an astounding soundtrack from the era.
Even I noticed the mum's haircut was totally out of place.. and in the 60s, they didn't speak like this.. the script is too artificial- and that's coming from a giri..
Maybe it's SGAE, maybe it's the labels or maybe I've just seen too many good quality period dramas on Netflix... but this didn't hit the spot
Pa the Yamaha logo on the piano in episode 2 is classic rookie error

Pilot episode flummoxed me - didn't want to watch after
25 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER ALERT:
so in Pilot Episode, they go back in time, completely change history around the Hindenberg, and then return back to that point in history where they left off - but how could this be possible if history has been rewritten completely?
How would the team of Mason etc know about their original game-plan now that history has changed? how would they even recognize them?
Sorry this series didn't work for me - with such a simplistic error in logic at the Pilot Episode level.. it's hardly worth moving on for more.
Bring back Marco Polo

Genius and incredibly relevant for 2017
25 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie deserves an Oscar nomination: the concept, the narrative, the theme and guerrilla marketing around it - this is all genius.
The director has worked hard to create a fantastic and compellingly realistic mocumentary which embraces the viewer into this twisted but possibly accurate portrayal of modern-day 21st Century geopolitics.
Once you've viewed this, you realize that the process has been repeated time after time throughout history. Perhaps today, it's even more relevant because of recent events, and the #alternativefacts philosophy which may prevail for some time now.
Watch with caution!

Makes you wonder

With a £30k budget and an amazing flair for story-telling, the director takes us on a journey through post-WW2 history and the circumstances as to why we are in this disillusioned state so many political agendas seem to be supporting.
This is great viewing and really gets you to think hard about the issues that matter: nothing can truly be explained by a 140-character tweet and that's exactly the problem: the world is too interlinked and complex to be understood via superficial analysis nor poetic slogans.
We need to collectively understand the deeper issues at hand, and find the solution that deals at source - building walls, imperial slogans, bigotry and racist knee-jerk responses are not the way

Powerful and gripping tale
11 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Excellent first-time indie production for director and producer combo This tale had it all: drama, a bit of romance, lots of tear-jerking moments and more importantly it dealt with the taboos of mental health issues which health experts believe could be the largest risk to Western society over the next 20 years.
Awareness of mental health issues, how to deal with this within a family unit, the repercussions on all, subsequent codependency, inter-family abuse etc etc.. its' all here in this truly profound and powerful masterpiece
I recommend you watch this with a trusted loved one, so that you can cherish the moment after the movie when one can share, reflect, learn and feel from the images in this tale.
There's a lesson in this story for all of us
This will win a lot of prizes at the real film festivals...

Great depiction of recent events

OK I will first admit I am biased in favour of the makers of this documentary. Many of us wanted to be one of the few that 'told' this story to society in an easy-to-understand format. Sure there are details missing.. but what's there to say, we all got greedy, the system facilitated it, and we've now created a tax burden which could last for at least 20 years or so. That's assuming of course, that we don't get another shot at financial Armageddon now that Government debt levels have shot up due to the nationalisation of the 2008 losses.
Michael Moore's version failed largely to his self-imposed ego. This production is far more polished.
I sincerely hope there's something positive that comes out of this - we need change and this movie highlights where and why? But as we all know, change has to start from within.
good luck to the filmmakers and thanks
