Selena: The Series (2020)
The 1997 film was better
As a SELENA fan I was surprised to hear of a new series about her life. I thought that the 1997 biopic starring Jennifer Lopez had done justice to the late singer's life and memory. I had mixed feelings after seeing the first two trailers for Selena: The Series but I wanted to give it a chance. After watching the first episode, I was really disappointed with how quickly things were moving along. The timeframe kept jumping with each scene. The first episode opens with Marcella and Abraham at the hospital after Selena is born and about 5 minutes later she's already 8 years old. There were also a lot of things that didn't make sense such as them using a different singer's voice for the song "Parece Que Va a Llover". I know that they didn't have very many childhood English recordings of Selena's to use so that's understandable that Madison Baez voice was used for the young Selena. But they shouldn't have used another singer for the teenage Selena. I'm assuming they wanted the audience to believe that Selena always had a mature adult sounding voice even though that's not true. They used the 1990 version of "Dame Un Beso" even though the date across the screen said 1986. I honestly couldn't get past episode 3 because of how boring the show was. The script is terrible and Christian just doesn't have the charisma that Jennifer Lopez has. Christian brought nothing special to the role. She can't dance and she simply doesn't embody Selena's essence. I wouldn't recommend this show to someone who has never heard of Selena because if you don't know much about Selena, this series will just leave you confused and unentertained.
The Twisted Nanny (2019)
One of the worst movies ever made.
This movie was absolutely horrible. Clearly the writer knows nothing about the law. If someone has the police to check up on their nanny why would they disregard their suspensions? The movie was so unrealistic. How are people going to accuse you of spying on your nanny? Everyone has the right to make sure their nanny isn't abusing their children. Most people have nanny cams set up to make sure their children are safe. How is everyone going to accuse you of being crazy because you're a concerned parent? Who ever wrote this garbage, please don't make anymore movies.
