Difficult Themes Handled in a Riveting Way
25 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This film deals with numerous mature themes, and handles them in an incredibly well-crafted way:

> how families and children in the US are so sheltered and distanced from life around the world;

> how our American dream is the target of extremists who want to blow it up;

> how families can be torn apart by jobs and responsibilities that take them in different directions;

> how committed the people who commit acts of violence are - we really don't have our minds wrapped around their mindsets;

> how spouses support one another's work responsibilities, or not.

Maybe if there's a flaw it has to do with the many theme plots it contains, but in the end I would see it again. And if you will return to see a film twice, then it had to have something of value.

It you want to be entertained, this is not your film of choice. If you want to be engaged in thought-provoking subject matter, go.

Excellent story of courage and survival of young Polish Jew during WWII
25 October 2014
Warning: Spoilers
I didn't know what to expect when I got tickets to see this flick at the Scottsdale Film Festival in October, 2014, but I was overwhelmingly surprised at how powerful of a film this was. I gave it five stars (5/5) at the festival.

This story is one of moral courage and sheer survival of a young Polish Jew during WWII. By chance and cleverness he escapes the Nazi camps and purges, but not without great cost and sacrifice.

Along the way he learns there are some people who cared enough about doing what was right to stand against the evil German juggernaut, and risk their own lives to help those in desperate need.

It has now been 70 years since the world was immersed in a terrific battle of good versus evil, and films like this help us to remember how it was back then, lest we forget, and think it never really happened, or could never happen again.

Haven't Laughed This Much Since I Can't Remember When
17 May 2014
Went figuring on a light comedy, but this flick was a full-blown side splitter from beginning to end! I'm going back with the women in my life. It's a hoot. Good messages to boot. I give it 10 stars for a hilarious, clean comedy you can take the family and kids to. Well done. It's got to make the list of top 10 funniest movies of all time. Best funny flick of 2014 so far. It keeps things believable, but wild and crazy. You almost think this could happen to your wife. Music chosen was very complimentary. The script was a riot - just the right lines at the right times, most I couldn't predict - so kudos to the writers. Serious moments got punctuated by some of the funniest lines of the year. Go. See. Laugh. Enjoy. Return. Have Fun! (stay through the scenes in the credits)
