Virgin River: Father Knows Best...? (2022)
Season 4, Episode 2

Warning: Spoilers
Same old blathering as Seasons 2 & 3, but finally a real medical case. Yet it HAD to be a stillborn, NOT a surprise. This is all about dragging up everyone's dreadful past or possibly dreadful future. I thought Season 3 was bad with Hope out of town. I should have anticipated that it would be worse once the pandemic wasn't keeping Annette away. Why couldn't her brain injury have given her a better personality??? I said the following in a previous review; apparently no one pays attention. But I will give it one more try . . . Would SOMEONE PLEASE tell David Cubitt (whom I LOVED in "Medium") that he is STILL limping on the WRONG LEG. In case someone doubts, check S1E5 six minutes from the beginning to see Mel starting to treat his David's character's LEFT leg. So why does he keep favoring and using the cane with his RIGHT leg???

Season 3 is the worst!

Warning: Spoilers
The original premise has been mostly discarded. I really enjoyed S1 with the modern-day, big-city NP/Midwife joining the practice of the old-fashioned, small-town doctor. S1 and S2 had interesting cases that brought together the talents of the two practitioners. In S3, there isn't a "real" case until E4 and only one more the rest of the season. All they do is take Bp, hand-hold and treat minor contusions/abrasions.

It was ridiculous that such an educated Midwife would one day be reminded that she still had 2 embryos and the next (?) have the implantation. She did none of the required tests or hormone supplements that start weeks before the embryo-transfer.

BTW, why didn't anyone tell the Pot King/Drug Dealer that he was limping on the wrong leg after the gunshot?

The Medical Consultant is credited for only ONE EPISODE in 2020 ... on a show about medical professionals???

What is really sad about S3 is that virtually EVERYONE seems to be lying about virtually EVERYTHING! They lie outright and lie by omission. They connive and manipulate. Then they lie to cover up all their scheming and manipulating. They look like adults, but they act like 10-year-old Christopher!

The best thing about Season 3 is NO Hope! Sadly, that's what I have for Season 4.

I'm done!

As the wise Mrs. M. knows, I NEED Sidney Chambers. Even though ALL of the remaining actors do a wonderful job, for me the show WAS Sidney Chambers. I didn't watch it to find out whodunit! I watched it to see Sidney's world, the murder mystery was incidental. Without his character brilliantly portrayed by James Norton, Grantchester is just too sad. I don't want to be reminded constantly of the loss. S4E1 was the end for me, too.

Watch Your Language!

This show is UNDENIABLE FABULOUS, but they are playing fast an loose with the vernacular! I don't know if it is accidental or if they're trying to make it topical, but the scripts have terms that were either not in use or not even created in 1959-60, for example: Perp Walk, Nerd Alert, Play Date, and a version of "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime"! Whether accidental or purposeful, the phrases are jarring amid all the mid-century accoutrements!
