Totally boring and overrated. Just garbage.
27 April 2020
One of the slowest, most boring, tedious shows I've ever seen. Absolute garbage of a show. Depressingly bad. Total waste of time. Don't bother with it.

Terrible. The worst Star Wars movie out of all them.
19 December 2019
Went to see a special triple screening premiere last night of The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and this one. The other two movies were absolutely fantastic 10/10 and this was one absolutely diabolical in comparison. Embarrassingly bad. Poor directing, unfunny lame jokes, poor special effects, plotholes, just garbage in every possible way. Did noone watch this before releasing it??? Anyone watching this would have immediately said this needs to be redone from scratch. It felt like a 2 year old could have done better. Oh dear God. They've ruined everything the previous movies did. It deserves 0/10.

This film is so bad and totally overrated.
20 January 2015
I went to see this last night with my wife in a screening and we both thought it was total tripe. It was a brainless movie with terrible acting, story and script. Even the special effects were done badly. The story was absolutely rubbish and it was also far too violent. The violence in this movie is so extreme it will make many people uncomfortable - I normally have no issues with violence in movies however this was totally and unnecessarily excessive.

There was also sadly the usual brain-dead racial stereotyping, propaganda and ignorance in the movie as has become the norm for Hollywood movies and some of the acting was so bad it was beyond laughable. I have never seen acting as bad as Samuel L Jackson's acting in this movie and I also have no idea why people like Michael Caine agreed to be in this rubbish.

This film has been totally overrated by the media and has had ridiculous blanket advertising in most UK cinemas. It's sad to see this kind of rubbish getting so much financial backing and being forced on people - there are so many good movies which get no advertising or support. This is seriously one to avoid.

Terrible Movie. Nothing but CGI.
17 July 2013
Just saw this movie in 3D - was expecting so much given the hype and the fact that Guillermo Del Toro was directing, but it was a total let down. Everyone I watched this movie with thought the same.

This movie was a complete borefest and consisted of nothing but CGI?? Seriously - there was nothing else. The acting was wooden and mediocre and every moment was full of cheese. The script was non existent. Where was the story?? The whole movie was as if the entire CGI department was just vomiting everything they possibly could on screen. It is CGI overload. Don't get me wrong - The CGI is good - no problems there, however, there is literally no film or story here to watch. You didn't care about any of the characters and everything was totally predictable from start to finish. Everything was repetitive. As if all the above wasn't bad enough, the soundtrack for the film was abysmal - the tune was repetitive, amateur and majorly annoying. It was like a kid messing with his keyboard playing the same few keys - seriously, whoever did the music in this film should be out of a job.

This film is for a seriously dumb audience without any intelligence - I'm amazed at how much money and CGI was thrown at this movie given the total lack of story and script. This is without doubt Guillermo's worst movie in history. He has messed up big time with this movie. He seems to have forgot the absolute basics in movie making. Have a story to tell at the very least. There is no story, no script, no decent acting or anything. The movie is full of brainless stereotyping too - it's embarrassing and like a child made this movie. There is nothing to keep you interested. CGI does not make a movie good - when will Hollywood learn this?? You will not see a better example of this fact than watching this movie.

Mind numbingly boring - The Worst film of 2011 and possibly of all time
10 December 2011
I was expecting an amazing film given the high ratings this film has received on various review sites... Instead this film was absolute tripe - worse than any film I have seen for at least the past 10 years. It was sooooooo boring and rubbish that my brain literally went numb - I feel extremely sorry for any children who were forced to sit through this by their parents.

Do not be duped by the marketing - seriously. This is no fantasy adventure. There is no entertainment to be found here. This is not a children's movie. This is not even a movie for adults. This is more like an instrument of torture. This film is actually worse than torture. To be honest - It actually takes great skill to spend $170 million dollars on a movie and turn it into something as bad as this. I have never been so bored in my entire life. Everyone sitting around me also felt the same. I practically fell unconscious in the cinema. Many people walked out as they couldn't believe how bad it was and there were constant yawns coming from every direction.

Several times during the movie, I closed my eyes and just tried to imagine the movie ending to help me get through it. I counted down every single minute, waiting, hoping, praying for this film to end. I really can't understand why anyone could possibly give this film a high rating?? The only thing positive in the entire movie was Sasha Baron Cohen and his acting performance in the movie - he was on surprisingly good form, however, the rest of the cast were rubbish. The acting of the lead characters was especially terrible and the story was atrocious.

Warning: Avoid this film - it will send you into a coma. Don't say I didn't warn you. If you want the truth - Talk to people you know who have seen this film and they will tell you how bad it is. Ignore all the fake positive reviews online - it's all clever marketing.

Extremely disappointed - This film is totally over-rated
22 July 2010
Went to see this film recently and was very disappointed. I was expecting something amazing given the extremely high IMDb rating - couldn't have been more disappointed with this movie.

The special effects were good, but apart from that, I think the film didn't work particularly well and it's totally over-rated.

The acting was nothing amazing and the story is not as clever as it pretends to be. I agree with some other reviewers on here, that this film passes itself off as being very intelligent and clever but only for people who don't have any intelligence and are easily pleased.

I like Nolan's other work - Dark Knight was excellent, however, this movie is nowhere near as good and felt pretty lame.

I think a lot of people who don't even understand this movie, just gave it a high rating assuming it was a clever movie when it actually wasn't that good at all.

This movie is certainly 'not' a masterpiece or anything even close. It felt like a Matrix wannabe, but I have to say The Matrix blows this movie out of the water by a huge margin.

As I write this review, this movie is currently in the top 3 movies of all time?? I've never been more shocked - get real people. It seems the film companies are paying people to vote on here and boost their films - there can be no other explanation. Very disappointing and was expecting so much more from this movie. Don't bother paying to see it in the cinema as you will feel let down.

Worst so-called Comedy I have ever seen... Terrible Movie, that just isn't funny.
17 September 2008
I saw this film yesterday in a special preview screening and was shocked at how rubbish it was. It was probably the most unfunniest comedy I have ever seen and the entire audience didn't laugh either for most of the movie - no joke.

The jokes were totally lame, pre-school and badly written. The acting was actually terrible too (despite having so many celebrities in it).

The worst thing by far however, was the script - what on earth was Ben Stiller smoking when he wrote this??? It was just dire and painful to watch. It was devoid of any talent whatsoever - I cannot believe that Ben Stiller of all people, could have written something so completely unfunny. I actually used to think highly of Ben Stiller (he was brilliant in Meet the Parents) - not any more I can tell you. Even Steve Coogan was made completely unfunny in this movie, and he's normally hilarious.

I find it laughable that this film is being touted as amazingly funny by the media and destined for awards. It seems that a movie can be terrible, badly written, unfunny, completely talentless and still get praised highly only because of the A-list cast being in it.

A lot of the scenes were also very offensive to certain groups of people and totally unnecessary. Avoid this movie if you have sense or any intelligence whatsoever - have never left a cinema feeling so empty and unimpressed before. Everyone else I was with felt exactly the same and hated the movie more than I did. I love comedies, but this film just isn't funny at all.

Totally disappointed and nowhere near as good as the first Hellboy Movie.
19 August 2008
Went to this movie expecting to really enjoy it - was so looking forward to it as both myself and my wife enjoyed the first Hellboy movie a lot. We both love Guillermo del Toro's movies in general and really thought we would love this...

We both saw the first Hellboy movie again before watching this (which I would strongly advise you all to do, as that way you will appreciate just how bad this movie is compared).

Firstly, the story is absolutely terrible and was not worth making a sequel for - this just seems like a total cash in and nothing else. I can't believe that this is the best story they could come up with for a sequel movie. There is just no substance to the movie whatsoever and some of the acting is pretty bad.

Sure there are lots of good special effects and a lot of fighting scenes but it fails to impress as the story is just so bad. The movie has also lost a lot of the edge and suspense it had in the first movie - I seriously feel like the directing in this movie is worse than the first one. Most of the dialogue is dire and amateurish and some of the main scenes in the movie are totally pointless. It really left us feeling empty when we left the cinema and I definitely would not want to see Hellboy 3 anymore should that ever come out.

Also - a lot of the del Toro designs in the movie look like they've just been lifted from his other movies and feel very lazy - I would have liked to have seen much more original concepts in his work and am a bit disappointed with that too.

Overall - a very disappointed Hellboy fan.

The worst movie you will ever see. No question.
17 December 2007
I just saw this movie in a preview screening and felt compelled to write my honest comments here, as the movie was absolutely terrible and there are loads of dishonest high ratings being given to this film on here (must be people from the film company).

This film does not even deserve a 1 out of 10, but there is no option on IMDb to give it 0.

The movie is the most boring and tedious I have ever had to sit through. I can't believe that this movie was actually released - it feels more like a failed student film project at school.

Most of the movie has terrible music, and tries to be artistic with the constant monotonous camera work - it doesn't work. The whole movie is devoid of all skill, direction, thought, ideas, script, story, acting - the list really goes on. The people who made this movie should be locked up so they can't release anything ever again - seriously.

Half the people in the cinema walked out, and the rest of us who endured it were visibly shocked and numbed at how bad the movie was. Everyone in the entire cinema was talking openly about how terrible the movie was.

I have seen some pretty bad movies in my time, but nothing, and I do mean 'nothing' as bad as this. Don't waste your time and effort going to see this - avoid it at all costs.

All of you people who have lied and given this movie 10 out of 10 - I really don't know how you sleep at night...

Wonderful Movie - A Warming and Special Movie
6 March 2007
I just saw this movie on TV by chance - I really didn't realise how good it would be. I really enjoyed this movie, and found it heart-warming and emotional to watch. Great acting and interplay with the characters too.

There is something about this unique simple movie which is really charming and will just draw you in. It makes a really great change to the usual rubbish movies that are dished out from Hollywood.

This film shows you don't need special effects, sex or profuse swearing to make a good movie - It is so simplistic yet so effective - it will make you cherish the small simple things in life, and leave you feeling in a really positive mood. When you watch this movie, you will suddenly feel like going outdoors too(!) - Watch it and see - It was almost like reading a good book for me rather than watching a movie - it had that special charm to it. Great stuff.

Terrible Movie and Blatant Propaganda
25 February 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I sat down to watch this movie with a completely open mind - Not only does the film have a ludicrous story but it was also full of constant unnecessary propaganda.

Firstly, the film is not believable in any way, nor does it tackle the REAL ethnic issues raised in the movie. Instead, it is a complete whitewash and I find it absolutely ludicrous and quite frankly laughable that the theme throughout the movie is for underprivileged blacks, Hispanics, Chinese etc. to be forced to learn about the Jewish holocaust and Anne Frank to solve all their problems(!) - What a load of absolute tripe! - Are you kidding me??? Who on earth came up with this drivel??? The constant Jewish history references throughout the movie became completely tiresome, forced and unnecessary. I felt like I was being brainwashed rather than being entertained - it really ruined this movie for me. Why do Hollywood directors constantly feel the need to shove this kind of drivel down people's throats all the time??? It wasn't even done subtly... I found the film offensive to all the real ethnic minority students who are facing real hardship everyday - It is completely insulting to ignore the real issues facing these students and instead use this film to force Jewish history onto viewers. Why do this? It was so unnecessary...

Also - I found this film to be offensive to any non-whites - it portrays all ethnic people as losers, no hopers and dumbasses whilst making white people out to be better. The way all the teachers were white was also not realistic. They really should have made the lead actress black, and used American black history lessons as the main theme in this movie... Wonder why they didn't...

Don't waste your time or money watching this.

Great Movie. Much better than I thought it would be...
8 February 2007
This movie was surprisingly good and very funny.

I liked the style of the movie and thought it was actually well directed too.

Well worth seeing - Much better and funnier than Shaun of the Dead in my opinion...

The ending was a bit lame though, but I guess that was always going to be the case...

I think the movie was also a bit too long...

Definitely go and see the movie - if you love British comedy you really won't be disappointed.

I hated everything about this movie...
22 January 2007
One of the worst movies I have ever seen... (no joke) What where they thinking when they made this movie??? It is like a cross between a musical and a movie, but one hundred times worse than either of them... and a thousand times more boring...

I also found that the casting for the movie was absolutely terrible - the actors do not suit the characters in this movie at all and were not able to pull off what was required.

The storyline was cheesy and boring and there was no enjoyment or entertainment in the film at all - the songs were lousy and incredibly annoying (I actually like Beyonce in real life, and still hated this movie!). You will die of boredom - I have never heard so many people yawning...

The movie seemed to go on forever and had so many unnecessary scenes the director must have been asleep...

When you hear the characters start singing their lines instead of talking, you will understand how much of a mistake you made when you bought your cinema ticket...

You will find that you don't care about any of the characters, the story sucks, and that the dubbing isn't even done properly in many places (when they are singing, they are actually miming really badly) - the dubbing is shockingly bad to the point where I almost laughed.

I am amazed that this film won awards - You gotta be kidding me... Seriously...

Rubbish, boring, and culturally ignorant too
15 January 2007
I was expecting good things from this movie given the reviews I had read, however, this film was terrible in my opinion. Not only was it extremely slow and boring, but I found it completely degrading towards non-Americans. Who on earth researched for this movie??? Have they any idea what life is like outside North America?? Typical Hollywood ignorance and racial stereotyping...

Most of the scenes and content in this movie were completely unnecessary, and the movie was far too long and drawn out as result. As for the soundtrack - I have never heard a more depressing suicidal theme.

You can tell that the director thinks he is clever, but really the movie fails to impress on all levels.

Very disappointed - Not good enough to be a Bond Movie
30 November 2006
Most of what I think has been said by others already by the look of it. The opening credits were really lousy - by ANY standards... and so is that bond song - What on earth were these people thinking when they made this Bond movie???? I think Daniel Craig is the worst bond for a very long time - I really watched the film with an open mind - but have to say they have made a huge mistake in casting him as bond. There is something not right about him at all, and it seems to lose everything that was unique and great about bond. In fact, I really think they should bring back Brosnan(!) The movie being set in the present doesn't work at all either - this is meant to be bond becoming a 00 agent. By setting it after the other bond movies, it is effectively saying the other bond movies never happened.

This bond is not suave, sophisticated, or even polite. He should have been cast as a baddie. He has the personality of a plank of driftwood, and is more like a token henchman than anything else.

There weren't many gadgets either, which isn't a good thing - but that's not my main gripe with this movie.

The movie just doesn't work for me. It most certainly isn't worthy of the Bond title...

As a fan of most of the bond movies, I am extremely disappointed - I will not be adding this to my DVD collection.

Worst movie ever
18 September 2006
I saw this in a preview screening and have to say that this documentary style movie is the biggest load of tripe I have ever seen.

Completely unfunny, low budget, boring, rubbish script, terrible acting - The entire audience (young and old) sat through the film comatose without laughing for most of it... there were literally only about 2 places you will laugh in the entire movie

Many people left halfway - Can't blame them... I stayed thinking that the film would pick up, however, it never did and I wish I'd left.

The humour was really lame and I am surprised that this ever made it on to the big screen. I am not someone who is offended by the adult content of this movie at all - It just wasn't funny. The people who made this movie really don't deserve your money, so please don't pay to see this film.

This isn't even funny enough to be shown on TV, let alone cinema...

I wanted to give it 0 out of 10, but the system won't allow it...

The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen
23 March 2006
I cannot believe how bad this movie is. The hype and number of good ratings people have given this movie is completely misleading. I went to see it expecting something amazing - I was in for a big surprise...

It is without doubt the 'worst' movie I have ever seen in my entire life - bar none. I can safely say I will never be watching it again (I was recently offered free cinema tickets to see it again, and completely refused). Everyone who I know has seen this film also thought it was terrible - You really shouldn't believe the hype.

The film tries to be clever with black and white, but in reality this just adds to the boredom of the movie.

This movie has a rubbish storyline, and is totally ungripping. It has no redeeming features in it and the violence is so over the top, it really isn't watchable. It is such a disturbing, disgusting movie, it made me wonder how such a film could be classed as being at all mainstream. I am completely surprised that the censors didn't have a field day over this film - We have lost all standards it seems when it comes to cinema.

I don't normally mind sex and violence in movies - but this one completely changes my mind on that. Watching this film will not only bore you to death, but it will also seriously mess your mind up.

When you see this film, it will make you wonder how messed up people are that they can come up with this stuff. Anyone who gives this movie credit needs their heads examined.

Avoid it if you have any sense, morals or humanity left inside you.

Sin City is rubbish. Avoid it.

Very Good Movie. Superb Acting. Go and See it.
10 March 2006
I watched this movie not expecting much at all... I was 'really' surprised - this movie is actually 'very' good, and well worth seeing in the cinema.

I normally hate sports movies (they are all normally cheesy, predictable and quite frankly boring) - This one however, is a whole different kettle of fish - Don't prejudge it and put it in the same basket as those other films.

It is a completely refreshing, original and watchable film. There is not actually much sport in the movie (so don't worry if you don't like sports movies - You will still enjoy this - I hate sports movies, but I liked this one). Instead the film shows the complex relationship between the various characters and the highs and lows that sports gambling can bring.

The only negative for me was that the film didn't explain sports gambling at all - which perhaps it needed to, given that it is about Sports gambling. It was also a little too long...

On the whole it was a very clever movie, with some brilliant acting performances - If you are a proper film fan - you will really appreciate this film. I think the film owes a lot to the main actors though - without their uplifting performances, this film probably wouldn't have been anywhere near as good or convincing.

Pacino in this is at his all time best - Superb performance...

McConaughey and Russo also don't disappoint, and all characters work well together and play off each other.

The film will definitely keep you engaged, and has a few interesting twists and turns too...

Surprising how a film based on Sports gambling can be so entertaining and interesting.

The average user rating on this website for this film doesn't do this film justice. It is a very good film - You should go and see it. I would give it 8/10.

It was alright... But very disturbing...
7 March 2006
I just saw a special preview screening of this film...

It was alright in my opinion - not quite what I was expecting though...

It will definitely make you jump a lot, and is definitely scary enough - the film is perhaps a bit too disturbing though...

The storyline is OK, albeit a bit thin for my liking. The acting was OK but nothing amazing...

The feeling of helplessness in this movie is what I really liked about it. It captures that feeling perfectly, in a similar fashion to 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'... In fact, it reminded me a lot of that movie in many ways...

The people I went to see this movie with, didn't really enjoy it... however, I thought it wasn't too bad...

Anyway - Some of the scenes are pretty horrific to the extreme, so only watch this if you are not easily offended by stuff like that... It has got to be one of the sickest most disturbing movies I have seen for some time... Not to everyone's taste... But if you like that kind of thing... Go and see this...

Bottom line: If you enjoyed Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then you will probably enjoy this film in my opinion...

King Kong (2005)

Not as good as the original movie - Should have been better.
16 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I was expecting this movie to be excellent, but after seeing it I can only give it 7 out of 10, and that is being generous.

The worst problem I have with this movie, is that I felt the old original movie was actually much better. I have a lot of respect for Peter Jackson - All 3 LOTR movies are my favourite movies of all time, however, I really feel he has messed this up and took the film in completely the wrong direction.

You don't care so much about Kong in this movie as you did in the original, and the actors cast for the movie aren't really up to the task. I personally think that the old Kong looked and acted better than this one. There is far too much cheese in this movie also - It was unnecessary.

There are some really embarrassing scenes in this movie, where you wonder what on earth was going through Jackson's mind when he decided to include them. Many of these scenes are not in the original and should not have been included - Kong ice skating being one of them. There are also some scenes from the original which I felt should have been included, but were missing. It is ridiculous that when they get Kong unconscious, they don't explain how the hell they get him on their boat, or how they get him home. There is no way he would just fit in their boat... There is also no way he would have remained unconscious for the whole trip home, unless they gave him enough chloroform to kill him - Surely they would have needed some kind of a large special cage or something to carry him in - which they didn't have in this movie. On a movie that had so many unneeded scenes, why wasn't any of this tackled?? This film manages to be extremely unrealistic in many places, and therefore loses much of the audience. There are plenty of scenes where most of the crew would have died, but the majority of them manage to survive relatively unscathed - This is not Lord of the Rings where the characters have special abilities and are superhuman - This was completely unrealistic - The scene with the dinosaurs is the best example of this. Unfortunately, the dinosaurs featured in the movie don't look real either - Something which is surprising for Jackson.

The villagers are really scary in this movie - In fact, they are actually much more scary than any of the monsters(!). Surely villagers like that wouldn't be afraid of or worship any creature on that island. This again is different to the original and loses the balance of the original story.

The CGI is way over the top, and actually manages to ruin the film (a lesson for other film makers perhaps?). It is the first film I have seen, where expensive CGI made the film worse. King Kong was originally an epic, where the story made the film the classic it was - however, this film hasn't got the complexities of the story quite right, and has just pumped tons of special effects into the movie. I have read other people's review here, and have to agree with some of them, that Kong loved the girl in the original movie, but could never have that love reciprocated, which made the movie so sad. In this movie, the girl is in love with Kong, and it changes the precise balance of the movie. The film is also too slow and too long - Most of the time is spent on scenes that weren't in the original movie. A lot of people cried at the end of the movie - but I wasn't one of them.

At the end of the day, the movie is alright. It has lots of action, special effects and will take up an entire evening - but don't expect a classic here.

One of the funniest films ever made - Go see it...
9 December 2005
This film is fantastic. It is one of the best kept secrets ever - I only watched it recently by chance - I had honestly never even heard of it before. It has to be one of the funniest most original films you will ever see...

I together with everyone else who saw it were in fits of laughter throughout. Napoleon Dynamite and his sidekick Pedro are the funniest characters ever made - I kid you not.

This film is completely original, refreshing and hilarious. The acting is brilliant and truly deserving of an Oscar...

I wish this movie would be turned into a regular TV series... Get this movie in your collection - You will thank me...

Disappointing Movie. The book was excellent - The movie was terrible.
9 December 2005
I was expecting a lot from this movie, given the hype and the fact that the book is brilliant - The movie however was terrible.

I really felt as though the movie rushed through the story WAY too fast, and never came close to what the book offers. The battles also felt hollow and rushed. I also felt that the story was americanised and toned down for a Disney audience. You didn't get a true feel for Narnia at all in this movie, nor did it build the characters enough. It seems to me to be one of the biggest wasted opportunities in movie making possible. It was hard to believe that someone could ruin such a good book. I really wish Peter Jackson had made this movie. So much was missing in this movie - The movie really felt like a cheap Lord of the Rings wannabe. If you are at all interested in Narnia, please read the book and don't waste your money watching this rubbish.
