Utopia (2020)
Fails To Live Up To It's Original
Original version: 8.5. This version: 5.8
The Good: Rain Wilson is excellent; Christopher Denham is very good. The artwork is outstanding.
The Bad: Everyone else is forgettable to horrible.
The Ugly: Gillian Flynn cannot write to save her life. I'm not sure why she was hired to write this. Of all the flaws, the writing is probably the most glaring, especially when compared to the phenomenal writing of the original.
Resolution (2012)
LOL What a mess
This movie isn't "brilliant." It's pathetic. It wants to be something but fails miserably. The writing is beyond stupid and all the ideas presented here are common horror/mystery tropes. It's not original and there's nothing in the movie to recommend watching it. In short, I lost an hour and half of my life, so thanks piece of garbage.
The Accountant (2016)
Where are the Spreadsheets?
I settled into my theater seat, comfy and cozy, anticipating some mind-blowing mathematical gymnastics and scintillating spreadsheet drama and what did I get? Matt Damon as Jason Bourne, dressed up to look just like his best pal, Ben "flat" Affect, shooting people in the head.
And then I was surprised to see Anna Kendrick appear.
Only she never once sang a song. Which bummed me out.
But I give the movie a 7/10 because it was entertaining.
Oh, and the guy from that drum movie was in it. He was kinda boring though. I got the feeling he was just going through the motions until he retired and could hand his job over to Michelle Obama.
But there was a really cool computer in it at the end.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Defiant (1994)
Great beginning, horrible ending
This should have been at least a 2-part episode. It began brilliantly and all was fine until the end. Then...it was like magic. Suddenly, Tom Riker just changes his mind. Yes, I understand the so-called psychology of his decision. It's BS. Totally and utterly BS. And his "crew" just obeyed like good little Star Fleet crew members, instead of rebel Maquis.
As I said, if this had been a 2-parter...or even multiple parts, it would have been excellent. Gul Dukat looks like a ninny in this episode. There's nothing in this episode, other than the basic concept and the opening few sequences that are redeeming. Pitiful.
