Stardust (2007)
A beautiful work of art
I came into this movie expecting great things. I'm a fan of Neil Gaiman, and love his books, and Mirrormask was great. What I saw, however, blew me away. As I watched I literally felt a full spectrum of emotions from happiness to sadness. Yes, sadness. Don't get me wrong, this movie is not in any way sad. What is sad however, after watching this movie, I have realized how empty our lives on this planet really are. We all slave away paying bills and doing the same routine day in and day out...this movie opened my eyes and made me realize that we are not meant to live like slaves and cattle. There is so much more in this world worth experiencing. Maybe not on the scale of a fairytale kingdom on the other side of a wall, but people ignore the beauty of this world in favor of material gain. Life is meaningless without friends and family, without someone to share your experiences with. Your happiness and sadness is not yours alone. I highly recommend this movie to everyone.
Batman Begins (2005)
All hail the new king!
Over the last 10 years, we've been suffering through crap known as Batman movies, nothing since Batman and Batman Returns has been worthy of Batman. When I first heard about this movie sometime last year, I was not very interested, because of I figured it would be another Batman Forever. But I was mistaken, I should be slapped for even thinking that. This movie is aptly titled, because it is, in every aspect, a new beginning for the Batman franchise. I loved Michael Keaton as Batman, and thought I'd never see his equal, but Christian Bale pulled it off masterfully. He has dethroned the first two, and I don't foresee him losing it any time soon. I highly recommend seeing this movie, not because everyone else is going to see it, but because it is a masterpiece. A modern classic, fitting of the Batman legacy that is the Comics.
The Honeymooners (2005)
absolute garbage
I may be a little biased in my opinion mainly for the fact that I never cared for the old T.V. show, but this movie looked bad from the first time they began advertising it. I was forced to watch this crap by some friends, who after the movie, had to walk home. This movie doesn't really deserve a rating at all, maybe a .000001 out of 10. If you are going to do a movie based on an old show (which is apparently Hollywoods next big thing; Honeymooners, Dukes of Hazard, Bewitched) at least use actors that resemble the old T.V players. They turned a redneck T.V. show into a Ghetto Thugs ream. That's like the KKK and the Black Panthers going to a rally together, it just doesn't work out. All I'm saying is don't remake T.V. shows into movies, because its plain and simply one of the worst movie ideas ever. That's why they were T.V. shows to begin with.
Haute tension (2003)
a Damn good film
Holy Hell, When I first saw the trailer for this film, I was mildly interested, but when I watched it I was blown away. Say what you will, but Foreign films are 100 times better than the crap Hollywood shells out. You will never see the kind of stuff you see in this film in any Hollywood film. Too many movies have been hurt by the fact that Hollywood is more interested in money than producing a work of art. All of these PG-13 movies could have been made better had they decided to add some more content and retain a R rating. Also would be nice to see more intelligent movies, too much mindless junk out there, but this movie makes you think. The ending is a twist, but they hint at the true story throughout the entire film, if you just pay attention. I won't tell you what I'm talking about, because I don't want to spoil anything. I just have to highly recommend this to anyone in the mood for a wild ride. I love the French for this movie.
