An unusual film that I couldn't stop watching, unusual for me. Well acted and filmed with some very believable characters. Good story, slightly dark and pretty tense at times. Lots to think about.

Escape from Pretoria

Prison break
26 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Not the most exciting of prison break films. Not a lot of light and an interestingly tense build up which largely fizzled out. What would have really made it would have been less of the slow dialogue in the prison, and more about what happened next: there was a huge man hunt across southern Africa which they not only evaded, but they eventually made their way to the UK. This would have been a more befitting end to this important piece of documented history.

Action and costumes

This is well worth watching: great action, good storyline and a huge costume department. The filming is excellent, the violent action is gripping and very well captured by the camera. There are historical links and the reality of life on the ancient Eurasian steppe under the command of Ares is brutal and very well depicted.

There must be a way of giving a negative score on here

Warning: Spoilers
I am happy that I have now seen the worse movie ever made. I thought I'd watched some tripe but this was lower than anything I have ever witnessed before. It's worth watching to see just how implausible a storyline can be, and you would have to go far to find a movie filmed with matching incompetence. The opening part of the film sees them discovering the nugget when one of them walks into it and lots of the gold rubs off on his shoe. Like mud. It goes very rapidly downhill from here.
