The worst thing I've seen in a long time.
1 March 2019
Either this script was horribly written or this work was butchered in the editing room. Some parts of the story seemed to "hyperspace" to completely different places/times with no regard for the viewer. This would have been an interesting story if it hadn't been done in such a cheesy production. The Direction was almost comical at times, and it was so over-acted that it had the feeling of a student production. What a waste of production budget.

Absolutely Hilarious

Warning: Spoilers
There isn't a great deal that I can say beyond the thoughts expressed by gregsawyer2006 in his January, 2011 review of Episodes. I echo his thoughts exactly.

Unfortunately...or not, I was late to the party and only just discovered this cheeky gem last year. I say "or not" because arriving late allowed me to breeze through the first four seasons in about two weeks. In doing so, I didn't have to wait for the comedic development of an inept network exec forcing an overly British show into American television. I got to see it in days, not weeks.

Also, while I enjoyed it very much, I was never more than a casual Friends watcher. Because of that, I wasn't looking for a Joey redo as I get the feeling many other reviewers were. I love the fact that Matt wants to move on, but everywhere he goes he can't escape Joey's standard pickup line, How you doin'? It is easy to see that as possibly a genuine aspect of Matt's real life.

Episodes certainly stands on its own two feet. The writing is intelligent and the laughs never feel forced or predictable. There is such an amazing cast of characters, each very funny in their own right. The personal and professional chemistry of Beverly and Sean Lincoln, intertwined with their unavoidable interactions with the long list of Hollywood types is pure genius.

The only bad thing I can possibly say about this outstanding show is that it is unfortunately ending entirely too soon. Come on Showtime, please buy us a few more Episodes.

Get Shorty (2017–2019)

Very Entertaining Series Opener
16 August 2017
This was a great kickoff to a new series that I'm confident will maintain the high bar set by its namesake, the film adaptation of Elmore Leonard's novel "Get Shorty." That 1995 film remains one of my personal favorites, and the first episode of this new comedy was every bit as entertaining.

Chris O'Dowd is hilarious as a low-level mobster looking to do more with his life, and for his family. I only hope he can survive his efforts to extricate himself from his day job.

The initial writing is funny, and there are several interesting characters in the lineup. I can't wait to see how they develop the character of struggling TV Producer, Rick Moreland (Ray Romano). I'm sure his unlikely relationship with hit-man Miles Daly (O'Dowd) will leave him questioning his career choice.

It is shows like this that should be released as a full season, so we can binge watch it all the way through. I've already found myself checking the calendar anxious for the next installment.

Invest an hour of your time this week to On-Demand this first episode, and then block an hour on Sunday for the next. You will be glad you did.
