Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow (2023)
Enjoyed This Story
I genuinely enjoyed this episode, the story was good and it held my attention throughout, although a typical time travel story it had some good investigating by the characters, even while being limited by not having their more advanced treknology on hand to rely on.
The character development for La'an was brilliant, adding a bit more humanity to her character, I just hope the developments hold for the rest of the season.
Reminded me a lot of the Voyagers EMH and Sevens development. Putting them outside of their comfort zones.
I'd love to see more genuine character development, less trauma on display.
Avenue 5: What an Unseasonal Delight (2022)
Nauseating
I really like this series but this episode in particular made me nauseous. The camera operators seem drunk, and the numerous camera cuts every 3 seconds seem as if one of those insatiable drinking birds was at the controls.
Very unfortunate.
Since this review doesn't have enough characters in it to be submitted here's a quote from Hugh Laurie.
"It's a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you're ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any."
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
So much potential....
It's all been done before. Same writers, same shortcomings. Amazing set design and makeup. Tries to hard to be humorous. More insults towards the 21st century, even thought that's where the target audience lives. Will see how the rest of the season goes, but unless there is a huge shake up with the writing staff I'm afraid it's going to be more of the same. It has no heart.
Star Trek: Discovery: Coming Home (2022)
Disappointed
I am so disappointed in this series, and this ending. Predictable, boring, there is no risk, I feel nothing for all the nameless characters. Inconsistent with tonnes of continuity errors. Not a show for people that like Star Trek, it's a show for people that like big explosions and flashing lights.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
High hopes.... Gone.
I hoped this was going to be good, every story is degrading to the brand. There are no positive role models on the show. The main characters are just complete jokes. It's like a parody of Star Trek. It completely misses the point of what Star Trek is, I can't see how this will ever inspire people the same way the original shows did.
Shadow in the Cloud (2020)
Just good fun
It's just good fun really. Doesn't have to be believable. When this was recommended to me all the person said is that it was ridiculous, which works well. No more unbelievable than the entire MCU.
