20 minutes into EP3... Done
4 March 2024
Three episodes into this series there is already a bitter taste in my mouth and I'm out. Already too many familiar, and tedious, familiar sci-fi tropes. The small window of opportunity to escape death which runs right to the wire on the countdown timer, the last minute mechanical hitch that prevents escape but is barely overcome, the tedious talking to oneself out loud to allow the audience to understand what the character is doing (even though it's clear what they are doing), the squandering of valuable escape time on pointless hesitation and deviation from the task, the jingoistic mission control despondency at presumed mission failure turned into ridiculous whoops of joy at turnaround to success. There is one cringeworthy scene where a returning space capsule is dramatically off course on re-entry to the point where mission control tells the pilot 'It will take us some time to find you' then helicopters and a stream of rescue vehicles heads in a straight line finding the capsule mere minutes later. Then there are the characters themselves. The female astronaut played by Rapace is constantly overemotional to the point where you have to assume she was created to reinforce the stereotype of women being the weaker sex. Her husband and daughter are played by D'Arcy and Coleman by way of being so emotionally detached that you can only assume Rapace was first into the feelings hamper on day one of filming and stole everything. Jonathan Banks, of brilliant Breaking Bad fame, delivers lines in such a wooden way that at times it seems they were written just before filming and recorded in isolation at a table read through which was then accidentally edited into the final product. Most of his lines appear to centre around telling other highly trained characters how and when to do their jobs despite the fact they already know 'how' and 'when' to do, and are doing, their jobs. All of the above serves only to jolt you out of successfully immersing yourself 'in' the plot. I want to love all SciFi, be challenged, amazed, awed and entertained, all of which happened in EP 1 and not once since. What I don't want is pseudo intellectual rubbish presented badly and poorly acted.

Deteriorates very quickly
2 August 2023
The first episode set up an interesting premise and introduction to the characters on this plane as well as on the ground. Unfortunately the further the series progressed the more implausible it became. Not implausible due to the many factual flaws around aviation in general but air traffic control in particular. These points are passable for e as this is clearly not a documentarybut a drama. So close enough to get a pass. However the show stetched credibilty to breaking point the further into the series it got. To the point where the final two episodes were sufficient to provoke rolled eyes, the final one being so far away from 'reality', that I really wondered if the writer had just lost interest and wanted it over and done with.

Finished at the right time

I really enjoyed this show for the first few seasons. Season 5 & 6 were very weak. Prior to this I really enjoyed it with the exception of Mr Sikora. I'm not sure if it is possible to have a worse actor. Problem was that he dragged everybody down with him as the show progressed and everybody started to join the ham club.

I'm duplicating this due to stupid imdb policies

Just read the book, so I thought I should watch this movie again. I gave it 4 previously, but having read the book, truly worth 1.

It was OK until...
13 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
They left the UK. The last 30 - 40 minutes in Norway were excruciating.

Luther: The Fallen Sun presents its title character with his biggest and arguably silliest case to date, charging around London and Norway on the trail of an incredibly revolting millionaire serial killer, played by Andy Serkis in a ridiculous wig.

Serkis's charcter has fingers in all sorts of stomach-churning pies, including a sort of electronic blackmail farm, specialising in the excavation of long-buried dirty secrets.

The movie shares a large amount of DNA with the Craig-era Bond film Skyfall, from its vaguely similar title and opening act to the sleek gloom of its cityscapes and the marshmallowy blond bouffant atop its villain's head. And should any doubts remain that all of this were mere coincidence - well, a certain late-breaking plot development puts paid to that.

That plot development is an absolute disaster. This would have been a 5 or 6 with a less ridiculous closing act. The door is left open for another Luther return, which I won't be watching.

Looks promising

So far, so good. High production values are reflected in the scope and scale of the show. Acting is across the board impressive, excellent cinematography and the very atmospheric soundtrack are brought together extremely well. I look forward to the next episode.

Very boring
4 August 2022
I quit halfway through S2E3. What an annoying show. The soldiers were very dull, their wives even more so. Uninteresting not to mention ridiculous plots. A black guy and a white guy go to Afghanistan of all places, dress in local clothes and none of the locals even notice? Utter garbage.

For 200 million...

You would.expect more. A lot happens in two hours to be fair but I had problems with the cdizzying amera work, the CGI and the script writing in particular. Standard action movie plot, you know who will live and who wiill die. The film is easy to consume but like McDonalds it leaves you wanting more.

Entertaining enough
6 July 2022
There is a need to suspend belief to really enjoy this show. Well made enough, good set pieces, fast pace, extremely violent. I did however pick up the final twist very early so it was just a case of waiting for another 5 episodes to see that sucker go down...

Better than Cruise?
4 February 2022
I wasn't a fan of the movies because TC is clearly not the 250 pound six-five Reacher. Then we get the described Reacher but he can't act. Either way Tom wins, this being a Skydance production.

Nothing in this show feels real. Relatives and friends just walk into the HQ including the armoury, the personal stories are very flat and the dialogue is atrocious. How this keeps getting renewed - I have no clue. The old show was REALLy good.

Meh - Very average
29 September 2021
Very repetitive. Crime happens, first suspect is not the doer but may have info on who is, FBI ping their phone, check IPs, scour the mainframe and within half an hour all done and dusted. In real life, they're still trying to figure out who DB Cooper was. As for the PC stuff, not so much - seems that some don't like to hear/see uncomfortable truths.

Confusing
8 August 2021
Too much backwards and forwards, flashbacks and gradually filled back story. None of the characters are engaging and Kim Dickens has the acting range of a leaf . I'm at S03 E05, I'll finish this series and see what happens after that. For me, it is not likely to be positive.

Watching Season 6, now. No more, absolute garbage, Dropping it back from a 3.

Was great until
18 July 2021
Negan. This show was great up until Season 6 and has now really lost it's direction. It seems that they budget has had a major uplift but that doesn't add to quality, simply takes away from it. Season 10 is just a mash up of Spartacus & GoT. It's time to get back to the essentials and quit with the time hopping, it drives me nuts.

Started off OK
5 May 2021
Character development stopped after season 3 alondg with credible plotlines. Most of the characters took the moral high ground, protecting the weak. Didn't give a second thought to murdering people with guns, knives or snow globes. The show was a soap with motorcycles and blood. Charlie Hunnam and Ron Perlman in particular never got into their stride as far as acting was concerned.

Two best actors
31 March 2021
Godzilla and Kong. Very impressive CGI and the battle scenes are fluid and intense. The makers tried to shoehorn in some kind of 'story' around the action, which was kind of awkward, the humans didn't really make any kind of impact in this movie, except for maybe the deaf girl.

I saw it on release
21 November 2020
And I thought it was a pretty bad movie. With the all start cast I was expecting something mindblowing that never arrived. Watched it again today, thinking that maybe it was the wrong day, time or whatever. Nope, it is really a terrible movie in every way. If I was to list why, another webste would be needed.

So bad
3 October 2020
Bad acting, bad scripts and a ridiculous plot. Lots of violence - which I do not have a problem with. I do have a problem with almost everything else though. PS - Does nobody in London ever hear a gunshot? Jeez people get blown away with 12 bores in a terraced house and not so much as a curtain twitch. And as for the 'mysterious' season finale, this show was beyond ridiculous

Started strongly
21 September 2020
I will start off by saying that I never read the book. However I am a sucker for murder/mystery especially with supernatural elements. I basically enjoyed this series until the demise of what I was considering to be the main character. From then on, it blew.

I remember seeing the trailer for this and it looked to be a real groundbreaker. Unfortunately the cinema experience was not so good. Just watching again tonight on ITV4, this film is utter garbage.

I imagine the books were better
31 January 2020
Never heard of The Witcher as a book series before but had picked some buzz about the TV series, so gave it a try. Episode one was OK, episode 2 was not so much. I watched episode 3, then I watched it again as I couldn't make sense of it. Still made no sense so I ploughed on into 4 to see if the dots would join up, they didn't. This show is big budget nonsense with ludicrous dialogue and variable CGI , poorly drawn characters and a non existent timeline. I switched over to Black Sails.

Loved it until the end
18 December 2019
I know the original British shows very well and was worried when I heard that Netflix was going to pick it up. That said, the first five seasons with Kevin Spacey were really good ( bit of intrigue, skullduggery, etc). The last season was maybe a joke? Anyway, the last go-round sadly halves my score.

The British show was much better
23 November 2019
I am giving this 4 as Spacey does a good job and also the production values are high. For the rest, I was spoiled on the original British show from the 80's. This show is not even close in terms of pace..

Didn't manage to complete Season 1
13 November 2019
I had every episode of this show recorded and was looking forward to watching it in big chunks when I got some time. I started last week and finished today. I only managed the first 11 episodes of this tripe before binning everything. How on earth a show as dismal as this one, with appalling lead actors, has managed 15 seasons is completely beyond me

One of the worst films I have ever seen
17 January 2019
If I could give it zero I would. With a cast including Ian McKellen, Scott Glen, Jurgen Prochnow and Gabriel Byrne, what could possibly go wrong? Answer - everything. Terrible acting from all those I just mentioned, nonsensical plotline that just dies not join up at any point, awful special effects and one of the worst music scores ever. No idea what Michael Mann and the studio thought that they were working on here. Avoid at all cost.
