Gossip Girl (2007–2012)
9/10
Gone With the Wind..... Upper East Side way
17 June 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I liked the show a lot! Why? The intrigues (Dangerous Liaisons, Cruel Intentions like), the fabulous rich and good looking characters (O.C. like), the "don't worry about tomorrow" feel, the morning dress code for brunches (I mean the whole peek at the high class life style).

Of course it has some things in the plot that tend to resemble O.C. (Serena-Marissa bad girl gone good and going out with a boy with lower social status), but even though I liked O.C., G.G. is a more frivolous and fun to watch soap (the little drama that appears now and then gets resolved with a good intrigue).

I also enjoyed the Scarlett O'Hara (Blair) - Rhet Butler (Chuck) romance twist (Can't wait to see how that works out!).

Hope you enjoy the show as well as I did!

Medium (2005–2011)

A very intimate psychic TV-show
30 March 2008
Medium is one of my all-time favourites TV-shows. Why? Because it has all it takes to make a good show (good story, very good actors).

But most of all I enjoy the intimacy that is shown between Allison and Joe, the wife and the husband. It's so natural, unforced and it creates such a real marriage, with its ups and downs. And with all the hardships that are bound to appear when the mom and wife of the house is waking in the middle of the night and has to call a detective or the D.A., they are making it work.

There's a lot of mystery that suites very well a psychic show, and the relations that Allison has with the D.A. office and the police makes it all look more real (at least more real than The Dead Zone or Ghost Whisperer).

I liked the first two seasons very much. At the beginning of the third (ep. 3-5), I got the impression they wanted to make it more spectacular, make it more commercial, and lose that intimate part I was talking about early on, the thing that makes me at least watch and enjoy this show.

That being sad I hope I made you watch this show, and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Elite Squad (2007)
9/10
The hard life of a couple of honest cops
9 March 2008
Warning: Spoilers
In Rio De Janeiro if you're a cop you can choose to be corrupt, you can choose to ignore what you see or you can choose to go to war(actually this could be a good tag line for the movie). This film is the story of a couple of cops that chose not to ignore what they saw and went to war. The atmosphere is at times suffocating, you feel there's no way out. Not only for the two cops (Neto and Matias) but also for Nascimento. The acting, script and directing were very good. You get into the story easy and hope for a good way out for your favorite characters. I also liked how the film shows the hate they all have (from the people in the slums to the rich people in the city) for the cops in general (the corruption helps a lot here). The hypocrisy of rich people getting upset on the cops for the necessary body check-ups at the check-points, while they themselves buy and use drugs (thus entertaining the drug business and therefore the guns of the drug-dealers and so the necessary body check-ups) is well depicted here. If City of God showed now way out, Elite Squad is certainly presenting one, even though a hard one.

Intriguing story that has some breath taking moments
28 May 2005
When I saw Ep.1 of Point pleasant I said this is a stylish soap with some potential but I wasn't very impressed. I thought let's see what's next. The second episode made me a fan of Point Pleasant. The story had a good plot and there were great possibilities of a very intense drama. I place Point Pleasant next to Lost (another very good TV show). Although their story are not similar in any way (except for the mystery maybe) the both shows have a way to keep you in front of your TV because of the ongoing story that develops with every episode. Unlike other shows when there are some pre-established actions(saving people every medical shows or catching bad guys every cop show) these two shows have only the STORY to sustain it. And their story are good. More mystery in Lost and perhaps more drama in Point Pleasant makes these two shows so different and yet so alike. Coming back to Point Pleasant only I conclude that the story is great (I can't wait to see how Christina manages to handle the the outside and especially the inner threats). The casting is very good every character adding a little more drama to the story. The result is a very good TV show that I hope to see at least 2 seasons of it.
