Ozark (2017)
Is it the same show?
Based on reviews given by several viewers here I jumped to the show. By first three episodes I was already dozing off. It's not gripping at all. Besides the lack of pace the first three episodes itself had, in combination, large (unhealthy/unceseasry) doses of nudity/profanity and it became a hideous torture to watch. Why do several recent American series feel the need to lace the show with unceseasry doses of graphic nudity/vulgarity/gay sex. I am getting back to the series from 70's and 80's. Despite not being of that era I can comfortably enjoy those since they REALLY knew how to entertain. Not indulge in theatrics or cheap & vulgar tropes
The only advantage is I had trouble sleeping and this show helped me to sleep.
24 (2001)
Pulpy, Trashy Fun
This adrenaline charged thrill ride scores 0 in realism but 100 on entertainment. It's fast, fun and fantastic. It's breathless pace, twists leave you wanting for more. When it's about escapist entertainment this is pure gold.
Honest Thief (2020)
Pulpy Entertainer.
There are plot holes bigger than a storage unit in this one. But this one manages to entertain all through with the story being reminiscent of pulp fiction from the 40's/50's but in a modern day setting. It's the sort of movie to blow of the steam after a hard week's work. Watch it with little or no expectations and you might find yourself thoroughly surprised.
Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari (2020)
Good light hearted entertainer
I fail to see reason behind negative reviews. The movie is a light hearted entertainer. The pacing is even with enough comic situations to make you go LOL until the final credits! For a comic entertainer the film has enough surprises althrough it's run time. The movie is a sincere effort by all concerned and it shows.Comedy is not an easy skill but the actors and writers get it right. In these stressful times you need such movies to help you relax and de-stress. It's not a cinematic masterpiece but hey it's not bad at all. Give it a try you won't regret it. It will perhaps be one of those movies which got negative reviews during its release but went to have its own fan base much later.
Shikar (1968)
An engaging whodunit
Whodunnit in bollywood is tricky in the sense that not everyone gets it right. There are classics, of course, which do perfect justice to this genre. Somehow when one mentions whodunit this does not top the list which is a pity since this is a decent addition to that genre.
Essentially a murder mystery with events surrounding it, Shikar plays it fairly well and maintains a good hold over suspense right till the end with fair share of twists and turns to keep the viewer guessing all along. The songs were the only draggy part in an otherwise well knit yarn. The pace is even and viewer gets engrossed right from the beginning. The jungle backdrop both adds to the atmosphere as well as the story. Dharmendra suits the role of a hero who is both brawny and charming in ways people are used to seeing him on screen. But as the the brains of this establishment and the investigation, Sanjeev Kumar's role cannot be discounted as well and he carries it out with perfect finesse. Asha Parekh plays out the part of damsel perfectly well. Helen as usual plays the role of the vamp with élan .The other characters do well in their parts. With enough surprises and red herrings this movie is a worthy enough addition to mystery genre. If you love mysteries you shouldn't skip this.
