Deadpool (2016)
The Best Canadian Film i have ever seen, Full Stop. And incidentally has now joined the list of one of my favourite films.(Spoiler)
I dedicate this review to Silvers. Deadpool, it's got action, it's got disconnecting heads but not like a Quentin Tarrantino Film- no blood and kid friendly i would say. 'The splat against the motorway/highway/freeway signage.'
How can you tell its Canadian..Ryan Reynolds, who to put it bluntly is the Star....yes he really is ;) , and zambonis, and hockey bags. He goes up against the pope..no he really doesn't..Its laugh out loud funny or was for me. The inmovie wise cracks really appeal to me. The out of movie wise cracks really appeal to me(the opening credits.) Its an avengers tie in with the Ruined SkyCarrier thing. Its Marvel and Stan Lee cameos. Its got hockey double layered same letter first initial names, which incidentally are Marvel Character Double layered same letter first initial names too..
its got a Metallic Silver Colossus..incidentally this is the first time I've seen the movie, did see Colossus in the trailer mind you, one of them. its got a bar which reminds me of a bar i most certainly, err might be visiting in Canada. I've seen the photo of the actual bar. Wade Wilson is the empowered dudes name, yup he is super. As an Englishman, all the wise quipps, i am shortly to visit the North American continent. It honestly felt like a primer for this. Its even got unicorns twice. Will appeal to kids too. it is a 15 certificate though- people may disagree but if there's a 12 rating, id have rated it that...
as regards the big V, its the tamest i have seen.
My favourite films are Fifth Element, Talladega Nights, Wreck-It Ralph and now this one too.. Wreck-it Ralph was an inappropriately(maybe) titled film for kids or family. This is an inappropriately (maybe) content filled film for kids or family. A mighty 10 out of 10 by me..Gonna buy it hd when i can..this ones a keeper. On Deadpool, Go Deadpool. Let's go Deadpool. i'm up for a sequel if there is one...
Script(choreography type thing) was perfection for me...it was one of those start from the middle movies but Wasn't difficult in knowing where it was..the then speed past and up to current, coolio..(watching Memento i'm sorry i found an effort to watch but yup THAT was a different style of movie). Bit disappointed he didn't pay the taxi driver mind you. that's why every discerning superhero needs a utility belt for something after all....another reason for a sequel..suit mk2 ;) Not sure if it was an easter egg type thing or i just wasn't listening but i am gonna be watching the movie again ANYWAY, no not today(or tomorrow but it really is a fully recommended and great movie).....did i actually apparently miss one of the funniest quips in the movie.....no more on that. Great film.
The X Files: Babylon (2016)
A great episode(Loose Spoiler or Plot Mention)
I'm not even going to mention the plot. I found the episode 2 episodes ago about the wereman, 'too trippy', too 'twin peaks', i found the last one about a guy who kills people and gets in a dustbin lorry compactor after doing it too 'attempt at doctor who', 'for kids scary' but dull. This episode i found almost perfectly weighted, a really good episode. Never been much of an x-files fan having found it slow but if we get more like this, i could be a convert. Character banter a plenty, wry but not too much. A good episode. Fox Mulder trips out this time not the scriptwriters and cinematographers, and along with Dana works with 2 younger agents. Mulder says some profound things, there's a bit of wit not from 2 agents but from 4.
The X Files: Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster (2016)
Hmm X-files is not what it used to be (Spoilers)
I would say in the past, was not much of an X-files fan. Whilst the series had interesting stories and they attempted to grip, i just didn't feel the entertainment and action factor. Tried to go with the character side too but sure though they weren't just starched collars, episode to episode i thought it a bit samey samey. It's all very well saying you don't need action, storyline can carry things but in a world of so much good action TV WITH story, i found it a bit slow paced.
This reinventing i am finding a new take. The season 10 pilot i thought was pretty good..a little up from what i'd previously seen but this episode...wow, tripping or what..it was like X-files does Twin Peaks..focussing on humorous scenes and abstract..the Mulder on his bed in underwear was so twin peaks(nups only one you say..you can guess what i mean).. Think it was actually too strong on the comedy. If they can find an in between level for the humour with the story, i would definitely up my vote score for future episodes.
