Doom (2005)
6/10
Innovative camera angles with true game feeling
20 October 2021
Now don't get me wrong. In no way is this movie a masterpiece or anything but a high-budget B-movie with some heavy cast trying their best to push this movie out of the gutter.

This is NOT a movie for anyone that hasn't played the computer game from the 1990s. This is a pure made-for-fans-only and I would not recommend anyone to have too much expectations.

But if you like the game-genre kind of movie adaptations, Doom is very true to the feeling, scenery and in most parts characters and monsters.

Without giving away any spoilers I would still like to say, YES you do get to see some true game POV scenes that is a must when making a movie about a game that maybe was the biggest part of the rise of this kind of FPS POV games as we see them today.

If you need to know what the synopsis is about, just google for the game or read it here on IMDB. And if you watch this movie in 2021, remember that this was made in 2004-2005! That is about the time that Justin Bieber stoped wearing diapers and started to lip-sync his way onto the music scene. =D.

Just for the sentimental value for fans of the old computer game
20 October 2021
Mix the scrips from the first movie with some Alien and then forget to hire good monster make-up artists or CGI editors .. and you will end up with this "sequel" to the Dwayne Jonson movie from 2005.

Same kind of story: special team is sent to a far away place to investigate mysterious silence in communication.

The only thing that this movie did put in some effort in (imho) is the tactical movements of the soldiers. But then again, how hard can it be to navigate to some cargo containers that are light up in yellow, futuristic neon light?

I was going to give this movie a 1/10, just as an honest rating of this B-movie. But then I did enjoy seeing a female protagonist and hero that was neither skinny nor excessivly muscular. She totally out acted her male counterparts and I was almost getting a little Alicia Vikander vibes from her. Hopefully she'll be getting some better scripts in the future, to help support her efforts in front of the camera.

Also, not all scenery was totally bad - even on a minimalistic budget - but sadly you never get the all anticipated POV storytelling anywhere in this movie. Most likely also due to the small budget.

But at least, this is a little enjoyable for all of us that have spent hours and days with the game back in the days. Remembering that the graphics in the first parts of this game-universe, would make Minecraft look realistic and multidimensional. =D.

Not even artificial gravity could save this movie from the dark pit of failure
20 October 2021
The movie started with a BIG script blunder and then just fell from there to a desperate and pathetic drama (not spoiling what) that was so badly thought through that any kid would ask the same question; Why is something fall awat in space when you travel the same speed?

Not even the cuteness of the all american cutie Anna Kendrick could save this movie from flopping even more than Brad Pitt's failure of a space movie from last year.

Renewing the G.I. Joe franchise?
13 October 2021
I do think this movie has the intention to renew and maybe prepare the ground for a restart of the G. I. Joe franchise.

After all, it has been attempted before. But I'm not entirely sure that rewriting the entire origin story of two main counterparts of the GIJ-universe, is the right way to do it.

The complete change of Snake Eyes character and background, as well as the family connections and affiliations of Storm Shadow, just makes for a very confusing and at best "desperate" attempt to be as different as possible from the generally accepted hitory behind this toy-to-movie fantasy world.

I won't say the movie is not worth watching. There are some cool action scenes and at least in a few moments some spectacular fighting coreography. But sadly it can't hold up this entire movie, and especially since some characters are more a parody than even the previous G. I. Joe movies managed to present. If the movie was cut with 5min from the most embarrasing scenes (sub-spoiler - stone-wall camouflage master, for example), I could have agreed with the general rating of 5/10 for this.

A desperate end with some desperate twists
24 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
To come back from the failure of Infinity War, the production team needed to find some way to salvage the audiences trust for the future of MCU.

They so did with this attempt to timetravel via the quantum realm, to which all of a sudden Tony Stark held the solution as if he invented another toy weapon for his Iron Man suit.

The final feel for this movie is that the major energy was put on the big ending clash between the forces of Thanos and Earth + allies.

The slapstick comedy attempts in the middle path of the movie, could have been saved for the extras and instead replaced by some quality plot enhancing story.

I can't give this more than a 5, due to the fact that this was supposed to be the BIGGEST movie of the MCU. Now it just felt like the last big movie ever in the MCU, and that the following productions will be in the Netflix, A Prime or other streaming format (like the failure of Vanda Vision).

I am disappoined, but at the same time we already saw the downfall of imagination with Thor Ragnarok (maybe the biggest joke since the Spiderman 3 movie).

Heavy action ... and some blood.
23 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
There are nothing as bad as stealing a mans car .. except killing his dog. At least if you should learn the moral of this movie.

Most people seem to feel implied to rate this movie high, due to the hype. But if you consider the complete movie and not only the action scenes, there are both good acting parts and some not so good, hence my 6 rating only.

As far as the action goes, it is indeed impressive when it comes to the stunts and the high speed flow. But - and this is a big BUT - there are some very bad scripting when it comes to the fighting scenes and shooting as well.

Who in their right mind are rushing towards a guy with a gun, to get judo-thrown by him and then shot in the face? And how come a sniper in a window, semi hidden, are not looking through his scope but oogling on like a bafoon, while his buddies get's wasted away from a guy out in the open on a roof?!

But if you can ignore these small faults, this is one of the best actionmovies that have been produced in the 2000s.

And let's not forget to honor the great Michael Nyquist that was taken from the world way too early in his career. Without him, not even Keanu Reeves would have saved this movie from a Rotten Tomatoes classification as a flop.

Lacks logic and truthfulness
13 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I was expecting much more from this movie and the actors that they had. Sadly it was as boring as watching a pine tree grow.

A large amount of scenes lacked all type of logic. Why an escalator on the moon? Why does a shot explode moon rocks, but only punch a hole in a gas tank? Is it a bullet or is it a laser beam? Why was Brad Pitts character the only one that could use a parachute .. and the rest died? Why would a space monkey not suffocate? And how can it move fater and hit faster, without being affected by the counterforce of physics in zero gravity? After half a year in space .. how come Brad Pitts character can even use his legs at all when landing? How can a jet blast in space .. make a metal hook burst? It's like a bird being able to snap a metal wire by flapping it's wings.

Prepare to be cheated
28 August 2018
The hype of this movie has been .. enormous ... and then they cr-p out this from their b-hind. This gives me the EXACT same feeling as the totally mind-ruining sequence in Dallas .. just before the character Bobby is waking up .. and the last most part of the series .. had just been a dream. I'll eat my shorts if the next movie doesn't have any kind of similarity to that Dallas plot-turnaround. If the Russo brothers wanted to sink the franchise to the bottom .. they sure have succeeded. I know I'm a minority in my opinion .... but maybe I'm one of the clear visioned ones, seeing what this movie really has done as far as ruin the future avengers or marvel movies. I feel cheated of any future experiences. This is not a spoiler, I'm just stating facts, together with my own opinions of a sad and boring predictable action-upgrade for every sequence .. that is the Russo brothers amateurish way of directing a movie.

Don't even waste 2 minutes of your life on this
20 June 2016
This is what's wrong with movie making in the "big country of the west". They totally let movie makers create pure crap like this without even a warning label that "this will probably make you sick and vomit if you like quality movies". This is even more painful to watch than Aliens vs Avatars. My suggestion is that every viewer of this rubbish will request a psychological refund and damages from the makers of at least what it costed to rent/buy this bs (sorry, I refuse to call it movie one more time). I really hope that the cast of this "project" was smart enough to request such a good make up and fake name, that they won't be recognized when applying for roles in serious movies in the future.

Worst. C.R.A.P. Ever.!!!
11 January 2015
There's no need for any other words than "CRAP" to describe this ... film - or whatever it should be called. If this was sold as a pre-production test filming, put together .. spoof film .. then MAYBE it could have been watched with eyes of what could be done with proper production.

But this piece of CRAP will only make sure I'll NEVER EVER watch a film made by Asylum or featuring any of the cast from this title, no matter if Angelina Jolie directs them or Jason stratham is the main star.

SHAME on you that let this out on the market and wasted valuable resources on something so pathetic it should be considered a crime against the arts. If I where a film maker, I would sue the ---- out of Asylum for destroying so much by taking this from a twisted persons mind and really capture on film.

Please erase this from history ... it's enough we have to live with Oprah and WWF. My eyes need a rinse .. all the blood in my tears are clouding my vision.
