Honeymoon (2014)
Wonderful Addition to the Genre
This movie starts off as your typical honeymoon movie with all of the romance and sex you'd expect. Then it takes a twist and leads to a lot of confusion. I know it was supposed to be vague: you weren't supposed to know what was going on; it was the kind of movie that keeps you guessing until the end, but it kind of seemed like a little much. But talk about gore (which, by the way, doesn't really start until the end). WOW is all I can say without giving anything away. Other than the slow progression, the movie is a really good one with wonderful actors and a decent storyline (you just have to get over the fact that Bea is from Game of Thrones).
The Possession of Michael King (2014)
Decent
This movie was decent, however, not a horror classic by any means, as some are calling it. When I saw the poster for this movie I got very excited because it made the movie look amazing (which is what it's supposed to do, but anyway). The movie was good for a "found footage" film in some ways. It was way better than some but the fact that it was scripted was obvious. It is quite graphic: there is a rather violent sex scene and lots of blood and needles (they definitely hit on things people are actually afraid of). Overall, I think it deserves a 5, but no more. It lacks originality; it plays on things we have seen in these types of movies too many times. Worth watching if your into satanic rituals and demonic possession.
The Fly (1986)
A Horror Classic
This movie is a horror classic. For an 80's movie, the graphics were pretty good, and with it being an 80's film, it's fun to laugh at some of the technology, furniture, and clothes. But, this is not a funny movie. Me and my mother coined the term "horrmance" to describe this movie because it is a horror movie with a romantic twist. Don't let the romance part deter you, however, this is a wonderful horror movie full of gore, gore, and more gore. And, from what I understand, this is a very good remake, however, I haven't seen the first movie. If you like gore, good characters, and a little romance, then you are sure to like this movie.
Taking Lives (2004)
Lots of Plot Twists
I normally don't watch movies like this but after watching it I believe this movie should be considered a classic of the suspense/thriller genre. It is a great thriller with lots of plot twists. If the length scares you, find time for this movie; while it is lengthy, it has a good story line and great actors. Angelina Jolie is her usual "out-there" character: an FBI agent assisting in a case in Canada. Ethan Hawke plays an artist who witnesses a crime committed by the serial killer being investigated. Also among the cast are local French-Canadian police officers. This movie keeps you guessing. The characters are wonderful. Greatly consider watching this movie.
Sader Ridge (2013)
"Where's ________?!" "What's Happening?!"
You might be confused by my summary above if you haven watched this movie. I named it such because those two lines made up about half of the entire movie's dialogue. This movie is ridiculous; it is very difficult to follow because of its slow pace and lack of storyline. Every character is unlikeable: an adopted woman name Sam who inherits a house from her biological family, a sound person (for what reason, I'm unsure, because it's never clarified), an obnoxious blond, a friend of Sam who apparently has an abusive past that we hear about once but is never clarified, and a creepy neighbor, who keeps bringing up his past with Sam but never fully explains everything. If you like a lot of running in the woods, repeated questions, and a story with holes in it, then this is the movie for you!
The Bay (2012)
Great "Found Footage" Movie
I thought this movie was wonderful. If you want to know what the ecological disaster is in this movie, take a close look at what's in the mouth of the head in the movie poster. I though this movie was wonderful because to most people, what happens in this movie is plausible. If you like gore and parasites, this movie is for you. The movie also has a science side, if you're into that. The effects were good; made the movie seem more believable. Another thing: lots of "found footage" films have shaky camera problems, which I personally find distracting. If you don't like shaky camera films, this is a good movie for you. I loved this movie.
The Possession (2012)
Wonderful HORROR Movie
Look, it's hard to come across a decent horror movie these days. You see commercials and think, "OH MY GOD, THAT LOOKS AMAZING." In reality, they just look the best clips for the movie and compiled them into the commercial leaving the actual movie to be full of lame parts. This movie was not like that. This movie had a good story line and good action. The effects were great, and the movie didn't leave you guessing or wondering. This movie has good actors (which many horror movies lack). Please, don't listen to the people who say it was just OK or bad; this movie is good on horror movie standards. Give this movie a try.
The Dyatlov Pass Incident (2013)
Awful Movie. Don't Waste Your Time
I gave this film two stars and I feel like I'm being generous. This movie was awful, and I mean AWFUL. I had high expectations for this movie. Netflix described it as a borderline snuff movie. The only thing remotely close to "borderline snuff" that I saw was what I think was supposed to be a sex scene between two of the hikers in their tent. No boobs, nothing close to "borderline snuff." Later, two of the (LAME) characters were exposed to high levels of radiation, neither of which experiencing symptoms of radiation poisoning. This movie is topped off with teleporting, cave-dwelling, mutant creatures, which sounds sort or cool, until you see the poor graphics they used. At the end, the two remaining characters seal themselves in a cave, which the TELEPORTING CREATURES can't get through. I will give it this, however: the ending was good. It explained the entire movie. Regardless of the somewhat OK ending, don't waste your time.
Stitches (2012)
Are You Kidding Me
I truly did not have high expectations for this movie, however, I expected more than I got. This movie is simply ridiculous. This movie is about a clown (named Stitches: SHOCKER) who dies in a freak accident while entertaining at a kid's birthday party. Stitches COMES BACK TO LIFE to terrorize the kid who he believes if the reason he was killed. Did I mention they are in Australia or something? Anyway, this kid, who is mentally disturbed on account of him having witnessed the violent death of a clown as a child, sneaks around to figure out why the clown came back to life or whatever. He basically ends up walking into some ancient clown ritual that involves drawing faces on eggs (don't ask me). Anyway, long story short, this movie includes zombie clowns, Australian children, and ancient clown rituals. 5.7 stars my ass.
