Maybe Johnny is Psychic
9 September 2020
You cannot watch this episode in 2020 and not wonder if the show is as psychic as Johnny. In and of itself the episode is good, but when viewed through the lens of 2020 it takes on an extra sense of awe.

Anthony Michael Hall never got enough credit as an actor and he does an amazing job in this episode going from conveying a sense of urgency through to a sense of desperation.

I watched this so you don't have to

Don't waste your time with this 'documentary'. Unless, you are a dyed in the wool hard core anti Trump person you'll see through this obvious piece of propaganda with very little effort.

Nothing more than a hit piece
21 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Don't be fooled by the gaggle of glowing reviews singing this film's praises. It is exactly what it appears to be a fictitious often mean spirited film with the singular purpose of attaching former VP Dick Chaney. Yes, Christian Bale does an admirable job (or should I say the make up department) of transforming himself into a cartoon character with no basis in reality. However, a decent performance does not save this film or elevate it beyond its core as a revisionist personal attack on someone not liked by Hollywood. Of course, having said that I don't doubt it will be showered with praise and awards.

Look at Me (I) (2012)

Good film with interesting characters
29 April 2013
To be perfectly frank, I did not have the highest expectations for "Look at Me" when I started watching the film, yet within the first few minutes I found myself completely sucked into the story. The story centers on six individuals, who are coupled up at various point in the film, and deals with the baggage and insecurities that hamper their relationships.

The film is set and shot in and around New York City. It is gritty with nothing being overly bright, and features plenty of seedy bars, dingy apartments, and grimy streets. The atmosphere works well for the story, which drops in on the characters at a pivotal point in their lives and leaves just as they are beginning the next chapter. In many ways, the film could easily serve as the basis for a premium cable series as there is plenty of material left to be mined.

Lastly, of particular interest to fans of the former webseries "lonelygirl 15," Yousef Abu-Taleb, the webseries former star, produced and stars in "Look at Me" along with fellow cast mate Katherine Pawlak and Bree herself, Jessica Rose. Katherine Pawlak's performance is particularly noteworthy as she manages to dominate and pull focus in every scene in which she is featured.

Casting Couch (I) (2013)
1/10
A bland easily forgotten film.
25 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I bought this movie because one of the actresses was in a project a long time ago that I really enjoyed and wanted to support her fledgling career. I should have saved my money. From the packaging, premise, and title one would think this was another direct-to-video raunchy sex comedy in the vein of the American Pie movies. In fact, the movie's climactic scene directly makes this comparison; nevertheless, this movie has neither raunch nor sex nor comedy. In almost every movie there is some redeeming quality, a decent performance, a few good jokes, some interesting scenery; however, the best way to describe this movie is bland. If it were food, it would be a bowl full of spaghetti without the sauce.

The movie is filmed as a fake documentary, which results in a series of very long, very flat, very boring shots. The first 30 minutes are a group of guys sitting around talking about making a movie, followed by the 'casting session,' a series of actresses reading snippets of unrelated dialog, followed by an extended party scene that culminates in a bunch of people jumping into a pool, something rarely seen on film. This scene is followed by a photo shoot with the very attractive female cast that instead focuses on the guys talking about the photo shoot. Free tip to future film-makers, if you are making a movie with terrible dialog and little action, yet manage to convince several attractive actresses to appear in it, point the camera at them!

There is simply nothing about this movie to recommend. The image quality is excellent, the audio intelligible, which implies while likely not a large one the film did have a decent budget. For the most part the cast, at least the female leads, all work steadily, even if in B-move fare, which implies they have both a degree of talent and appeal. Nonetheless, the finished product in an uninspiring, unremarkable, and easily forgotten movie. The movie is not shocking or horrible or offensive it is, as stated previously, simple bland.
