The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Just empty.
I have left some benefit of the boubt for this show for some time, but now after 3 episodes the picture is clear and consistent. This show is just an empty husk. Bright expensive high quality outside and nothing of value inside.
They managed it to look expensive. CGI looks awesome, costumes and props are great, scenes and general design is there... yet it all goes to waste because all those money are not in focus. They just flaunt this stuff rapidly in long bursts with you not even having enough time to see and enjoy anything.
And there is the problem of plot just dragging on. We know what's up, what is coming and what will happen... yet it is slowly dragging and dragging and dragging...
House of the Dragon (2022)
House of bad wigs.
What's up with all the hair? Why does it looks so fake and lame on almost every actor except chosen few? Looks cheap as hell and same applies to CGI and armor.
In general I am not impressed by this show, most stuff was just mediocre or even worse.
Eternals (2021)
Uninspired, boring, cringey and dumb.
This movie was unhurried, but in a very bad way. Two and a half hours to show what exactly? A story that can be delivered in a couple of sentences without even losing anything important?
Every plot point of this movie was dumb as hell, most "sudden plot twists" were obvious from the start. Not like I ask much from a Marvel movie, but come on!
Characters felt weird and had no chemistry at all. There were a lot of jokes, but I havent smiled once in a whole movie.
Y: The Last Man (2021)
Unwatchable.
It started half-decent, but then became absolutely boring, slow and stupid. Characters were non-captivating, especially the main one. After first episode I could not force myself to care about anything happening on the screen. Scene changes and plot delivery were confusing at times.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
Still bad.
It was bad. It is still bad. I don't understand all the hype.
Greenland (2020)
Not a good disaster movie.
Story-wise it was completely pointless movie. What was it even about?
The whole time we mostly see faces of main characters, but it tells us nothing about them. We see humanity fail, but in the same time it's flaws are not fleshed out, nor even put in the focus. We see disaster on the background kinda just beign there and doing nothing...
Honestly it could have beign a movie about a couple going on vacation and having some minor problems on the road.
Moonbase 8 (2020)
Terrible, sad and dumb.
Just a bunch of dull spineless people out of theyr depth doing things, which are supposed to be funny, but are so badly written and played, that they just make you cringe a lot. It was just a sad sight if anything.
Damn, that was terrible. Who is even the target audience of this nonsense? Some dumb people who like space'ey science'ey stuff? Some "nerds" who like everything dumb? I just dont get it.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Terrible.
Confused incoherent disaster of a movie. It was boring, frustrating and cringe-worthy almost the whole time.
The Hunt (2020)
Great.
I really hate those "subverting expectations" movies, but in this one it actually worked. It was fun and it had good action.
Bloodshot (2020)
It is Venom 2.0, but even worse.
Extremely dumb, full of logical problems and fails at basic science. Main villain is extremely lame and forgetable. Action scenes full of fast cuts. There was a lot of stuff that was put in this movie only for the "cool" effect without absolutely no any other purpose.
Guns Akimbo (2019)
Terrible.
Absolute waste of screen time. It was dumb, it was not funny, it was pure cringe and action scenes sucked big time.
Superman: Red Son (2020)
Super bad.
My expectations were low, but it turned out to be even worse.
The Witcher (2019)
Disasterous book adaptation, weak show.
As an adaptation of books this is absolute disaster. No way around it: they have butchered those stories beyond recognition, they have invented new content which is below mediocre and only weakens the original plot, they have changed spirit and nature of original characters, they have changed rules and meanings of things in this universe. As a big fan of those books I feel personally insulted. "We wanted to tell Yen's story!" - go make a damn spin off (that nobody wants to see really) when you finish the original series, you dummies.
As a TV show it is not good too. Here are some flaws: those time jumps were obvious weak point, those "big" battles were weak and pointless to show, there were some really outrageous props (nilfgardian armor and weapons, those pikes...), terrible CGI, weak secondary actors and even weaker extras, rushed and just bad pace, weird focus and general feel of money and screen time wasted on all the wrong things. As a whole it just was weird and felt mismatched.
As a strong points of this show I can mention Henry Cavil's amazing work - this show gets more that 1/10 only because of his acting. Acting of Joey Batey was a real find. I guess that Anya Chalotra made a good job - I still cant see her as Yen, but she was not bad either, which is achievement by itself (and all failings were in the script, and not acting, which was on point).
Snatchers (2019)
Beyond awesome for what it is.
I was extremely surprised when this (let's be honest) tier B movie turned up to be so fun and well made. It is not without flaws, but actors did a great job, jokes are mostly funny and cheap'ish (even old fashion) effects are still doing theyr job and are not hard on eyes.
P.S.: For me it had very "The Faculty" (1998) vibes.
Dracula (2020)
Weird and random.
Definitely not 7/10 - that current user rating is a joke.
It wants to look eccentric and original, but it is weird and random instead. Lots of characters are introduced just to be killed in the same episode (or used once and then forgotten), lots of abandoned plot points, nothing is really explained and the story jumps all over the place. Also there were a lot of plot holes and just cringey moments.
Acting was... questionable? Those secondary one-episode roles were fine or even great, but main two characters I just cant dig. Not actor's fault anyway.
6 Underground (2019)
Empty and pointless.
So much explosions and sparks, but absolutely empty and pointless.
Ad Astra (2019)
What the hell was this all about?
I was left extremely blank and bitter after watching this movie.
What the hell was this all about? I am not asking to spoon-feed me the plot, but I am pretty sure that this movie just dont even try to explain anything happening. It gets much worse because of some extremely dumb logic and science mistakes - with general misunderstanding of the plot you also have to wonder - are those particular weird things have some explanation? Maybe there are reasons behind them, which will explain at least something? Give me more information dammit!... At the end it hits you: "Oh no! They were just dumb mistakes all along and there will be not explanation to anything."
It feels like a mindless parody, like a cargo-cult of good "hard" SciFi. Most sadly that there were some very good moments in this movie, but as a summ of all parts - it is hard 1/10.
V-Wars (2019)
Wasted time.
It started like it could be 7/10 TV series. Then with each episode it got progressively dumber and just boring. At the end it became honest 1/10.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Good.
Watched first episode. It alone was many levels better than any of the latest SW movies. Interesting story, great action scenes, memorable characters. No "weird space stuff" just for the sake of weird space stuff - everything was in it's place.
I really prefer hard SciFi and not a fan of SW, but even I liked this TV show. Looking forward to the next episodes.
Joker (2019)
Insanely overrated and overhyped.
It's just a bad movie. It is slow, boring and disturbing.
Paradise PD (2018)
The opposite of funny.
I watched it without any preparation or expectations other than that 7/10 rating.
It was garbage and it was the opposite of funny. Jokes were forced, extremely dumb and below any lows.
The Day Shall Come (2019)
Some great ideas. Terrible execution.
Trailer was promising. The movie turned out to be boring, dumb, unsteady, slow and delivered itself terrible. It felt wrong and weird in almost every scene.
Couple of jokes made me laugh, but in general it was very weak comedy movie.
It could have beign a political movie, but it fails at that too - problems that it wants to talk about most of the time are mumbled hesitantly or presented as jokes, which is even worse.
In the end it was 90 minutes of wasted time, that I am not getting back.
Anna (2019)
Chaotic all over the place BS
I have watched about 60% of it and had to turn it off. It was beyond terrible. Somehow it was too slow to advance the plot AND too fast to follow.
Origin (2018)
Very weak and low effort.
From the first episodes untill the end it was very bad. There were too much of technical mistakes (like REALLY a lot). Characters were dumb, irritating and uninteresting; acting was not great (only that Japanese guy was good really). The story in general was weak and could not interest me at all. Also there were a lot of obvious plot tools or predictabe twists, which constantly broke my immersion.
Just garbage. Do not watch.
Demolition (2015)
Great at the begining, but a traiwreck at the end.
First 20 minutes of this movie were awesome and they promised the story of character development from bad person into good person.
Then it just became weird and got nowhere with this. I cant even tell what this movie was really about - it felt very random and like it ended on nothing (which was the most anticlimactic point).
While this movie had some good parts (like Gyllenhaal's acting), but in the end I am very disappointed with my time spent on watching it. That is 3/10 from me.
