Cade: The Tortured Crossing (2023)
Wow!!!
What a great follow up to Twisted Pair! We finally get to answer important questions about the mysterious Cade and his evil brother. Much more action in this then a typical Breen film and I found that very refreshing. And the end is a bit of a tear-jerker.
I have been waiting for this release for a long time and now having finally seen it... It did not disappoint!
The only downside of this film is the lack of dialogue to explain some of the scenes- but hey, not that big of deal, I'll just have to rewatch again, which I'm already excited to do!
Here's to another fantastic edition to the Neil Breen collection!
Downey's Dream Cars (2023)
No thanks
Here's an idea: Instead of taking the balls out of these cars and making them electric, you know because of "climate change" barf - a better show would be Downey donating these cars to people who would actually appreciate them, the way they are.
Seriously though, how do start the show riding in a military helicopter (probably not great for the environment) and then stand on a soap box and talk about cars destroying the environment? It's just so weak and hypocritical. Overall it was just too uninteresting to watch another celeb virtue signal. Thats just my 2 cents.
Maybe it gets better but I bailed on the first episode.
History of Horror (2018)
Why must everything be political?
Sometimes we want to escape from reality and just watch a scary movie. Is that so much to ask? This show does have some good moments but every time they interject their woke ideology and create these connections to racism and misogyny and gun control, it just sucks the fun out of horror- Big time.
I even tried giving the podcast a shot, only to be turned off by Joe Hill doing the "orange man bad" recital.
Eli, if you want a political show then do a political show and leave horror alone.
Side rant: Goreporn like Hostile is not horror!
There, I said it.
The Runner (2022)
Very cool!
The look and feel of this short story film was Amazing! Very well done! And the music, obviously, was great. It is just nice to see creative minds switching it up and trying something new and different. And this completely worked IMO- Loved it.
ZeroZeroZero (2019)
Great watch!
Love Mogwai doing the score. Love the acting. Love the execution of each story. And I love the direction and cinematography. My only complaint is that I wish it had more episodes.
Here's hoping for a season 2!!!
Inherent Vice (2014)
Darn! My expectations were too high
I really don't know how to rate this because it didn't even seem like a movie. It's like when you read a full chapter of a book and realize you've been reading this whole time but thinking about something else so you have to go back and re-read it. To be fair, if you've read the book I assume you have an idea of what the story is and might like this adaptation. But for those of us that haven't read it, it's a confusing journey into a lack of story with no payoff. It was like PTA just turned on the camera and let the actors slowly get into character. The dialogue was so off-putting, like every average conversation had to be spoken in a Noir- esque fashion which ended up sounding false and unemotional. I understand it's supposed to be noir, but it just doesn't work for this movie. The first half seems like a Wes Anderson movie and ended very PTA style. Even the music doesn't fit. I like that he uses the guitarist of Radiohead for his soundtracks, but maybe should've went with better fitting songs. And the whole movie is overly narrated to the point where you feel like you're listening to an audiobook. To sum it up: there is so much going on its hard to follow, to the point where you just give up and don't care anymore. And then realize there is no substance to the story and you're left confused. I love PTA and I love artistic films that aren't afraid to go out of the norm and do something new and different. But this wasn't artistic as much as it was just disappointing. It's a bummer cause this could've been an amazing movie- Actually no it couldn't. But the trailers and the hype made it seem like it could've been great.
