Fantasy Island (2020)
The writers should be ashamed of this.
Great cast, good budget, and a fantasy IP that could have made more money then a printing press, and they ruined it with a worst script then any Love Boat episode.
I can't believe Blumhouse would greenlight the dribble that was set in front of them that was called a script. I'm not sure if I'm more upset that I wasted my time watching this or the fact they killed the franchise.
Slice (2018)
What a Turkey this is...
I expected B- Horror Comedy from the reviews and got C- Horror instead. Not once did I crack a smile, smirk, or snide. An up comer "Lakin Valdez" had the best role and lines, Zazie Beetz and Chance gave a good performance but didn't have any good lines. Paul Scheer and Chris Parnell must have taken this just to get a credit as they know a bad part when they see it. I'll assume Parnell threw the painting bit in to get a laugh, but it was a miss. Scheer is good at schlock comedy, but added nothing to make this watchable. It's not that the acting is bad, it's just a bad script that the actors didn't improvise/improve on. I suggest watching the trailer instead as it has the best 2 minutes this movie has to give.
Hellboy (2019)
It's a good movie if you know who Hellboy is.
The movie itself should be a 6.5, maybe a 7 if you're a fan so I'm surprised by the low scores until I looked and seen how many people gave it a 1. Do you know how bad a movie has to be to receive a rating of 1? At first I thought the bible thumpers were uniting, but that doesn't seam to be the case so now I'm left to wonder who these *bright intelligent beings* are so I can filter any review or opinion they may have to the recycle bin.
I missed Doug Jones in this one as it's a reboot of sorts, but only after the movie was over as it held my attention for all the right reasons. I'm giving this a 10 to help offset the idiotic 1 reviews from people who thought they were sitting down to watch Mary Poppins.
Kerd ma lui (2004)
80's Hong Kong Action Flick
Reviewer Niz sums this movie up really well, but I have to add that some of the fighting was so bad it had me laughing. A lot of it actually. The inclusion of "Gymnastics Battle Bad Guys" was a really bad idea and had me laughing the hardest. The weapons a drug kingpin could buy in 2004 is amazing and the few cgi effects weren't really passable, but fit in with this movie as a throwback to the 80's.
I did feel a little guilty from the laughing as you could see they put a lot of blood, sweat, effort, and little money into making this film and some of the scenes worked really well (the first gun draw at the beginning, etc..) but the cheese scenes are grade A. I didn't see any wire work and some of the stunts made me cringe as I know they had more then one "ouchee" through this shoot and they used slow-mo a lot so you could feel the pain for yourself.
Watch the end credits to see some for yourself.
Naked Attraction (2016)
Most of us love nudity and this show proves it.
I live in the states, and I applaud this show for being so open. When it comes to attractions for life partners or leisure encounters the majority of people first look at gender and then physical attraction. We can lie to ourselves and other people and say we look for personality, hair, teeth, etc... first, but the former is ALWAYS one of first 2 things we look for in a partner.
This show is the opposite of "The Dating Game" where contestants were questioned as they sat behind a curtain and then revealed at the end. If you remember that show (or YT it), you will see that most of those contestants where hand picked (for that era) before being presented. I'm sure we have some of that going on here, but there is much more diversity then usually allowed which is a good thing.
Another reviewer said their are too many tats and piercings to give this a good rating and while I somewhat disagree, it can be a little much in the sense that all contestants feel like they may have been pulled from the same district/burrough/providence based on appearance. I am not familiar with the different regions the contestants come from (based on the different accents), and although it is trendy for the younger generation to "bedazzle" their bodies it seams there is not a lot of diversity in that area. It could be that perhaps these type of people are more open towards nudity and that's why they don't mind showing their bodies off. Or it could just be that they want to be on tv... I don't claim to know.
If HBO wasn't trying to rid itself of the stigma "It's not porn, it's HBO", then perhaps we could get the series off the ground to other areas of the world. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt a little sad that this show only had 5 reviews and has gone on for 4 seasons which just shows that we still have a ways to go before being an open society. If I had any critique for the show, it would be to interview the contestants separately afterwards to find how the dates actually went, if there were any further dates, and give their perspective. It could even be a separate web based interview if it where to salacious for tv (like Big Brother etc...). Weather Hipster, Business Man, or Country Bumpkin, one thing stands true... I want a beer and see something naked.
