This film plays in the 60s and is about an Italian family: Romano, his wife Rosa and their two children Gigi and Giancarlo emigrate from Solino in Italy to Duisburg in the Ruhr area. I like this film, because I think it is quite realistic: it shows problems which many foreign families have when they come to another country: they have to get used to a new culture, a new environment and this can be difficult: especially if you don't know the language.... It is difficult for the family but they find a way: they open a restaurant which offers typical Italian food, and it is named "Solino", like their hometown. The film also shows different conflicts - Gigi and Giancarlo fall in love with the same girl, and although Rosa has to work very hard, Romano refuses to pay money to engage more workers, etc. etc. But stop, I don't want to tell you how it goes on. You should watch the film yourself, it's a nice one - I have also made a Referat about it and examined scenes which show different cultural attitudes. And there are a few...

I am a great fan of the DuckTales cartoon series, and I think that it is a real classic! As a child, I have seen almost all of the series in the evening when they were shown in Germany (every Saturday evening) and I was always looking forward to it. I think that most of the plots were interesting and exiting, and the drawings are made very well. Most of the cartoons which you can watch today, like a "modern" Donald Duck series, I think it's named "Uncle Donald and the boys", are of a much worse quality. Sometimes the plots of DuckTales also refer to classic themes, like to a Shakespeare play ("Much to do about nothing"), to Helen of Troy or to Homer, just to mention a few, or to historical events, like the first flight of the Hindenburg. I just loved to see how Magica de Spell screamed out loud "Next time lucky dime will be mine" or how Scrooge and Flintheart Glomgold talked with their "typical Scottish accent". There are only little things which could be better: I think that the 2nd edition is not as good as the first one; I loved to see adventures with the "classical stuff" like the Beagle Boys, Magica de Spell or Flintheart Glomgold, but I didn't like the new guys which were introduced during the 2nd part like Bubba and Gizmo Duck so much; in my opinion they did not really fit with the classical Disney characters. But nevertheless DuckTales is a real classic which I highly recommend to all people who like cartoons in general! I give it ten points as it's really my favourite cartoon!!

I liked this film very much, for many reasons. I liked the music and the drawings very much. In my opinion it is not worse then its "prototype" Fantasia (which appeared in the early 1940s). Okay, Fantasia really set a new trademark, and in my opinion there are not as many innovations here as in the original Fantasia. But if you like Disney films, you should give "Fantasia 2000" a try! It contains famous, very well-known music, and again animated cartoons, but it's another style. Personally I liked the music very much, it was a real ear-wig for me! Different to the original Fantasia, Donald Duck also makes a short appearance; before the film begins there is also a review of further famous films and animations the Disney Company has made in the past decades - advertising, oh well. Being a real Walt Disney fan, who has seen nearly all of the "DuckTales"-episodes, for example, I give this film a 10/10.
