The Simpsons: One Angry Lisa (2022)
Marriage on the rocks?!
Wow! Once again the writers have gone back to the "troubled marriage" well. Sorry. That well has gone dry over a decade ago. I suppose that it was slightly different this time because it involved a riding instructor...wait it wasn't really different.
Homer has beaten up tougher people than Jesse. Bart's "big brother," random hobos, etc. Yeah, he usually resorts to cheap tactics, or having a layer of liquid protecting his brain, but he still wins.
It's beyond ridiculous that Lisa wasn't able to get out of jury duty. Yes, it's a cartoon and some disbelief must be suspended, but this is beyond that pale. She's obviously 8. B story over.
Judge Harm has had more than enough time on the show. She was bad the first time she showed up, and she's been worse each subsequent time. Also, why is Gil a lawyer? Yeah, suspension of disbelief, but again, ridiculous. How could he possibly become a lawyer suddenly? Is it because this is a court room which allows children to be jurors? Amazing writing....
Choose or Die (2022)
Hard Pass
Literally no redeeming qualities. Potential for a good movie, but missed at every single turn. The story was poorly written. Acting was barely passable. Boring all the way through. Don't even know why I watched the entire thing. Not even close to a movie that's so bad that it's good...it's just bad. Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake. Watch something else.
The Simpsons: The Sound of Bleeding Gums (2022)
Not bad
An overall decent episode. Nothing special, though the story was interesting. It's getting ridiculous that the writers of this show either haven't seen the older episodes, or they just pretend that they haven't. Kent Brockman already won $130 million in the lottery in season 3.
The Simpsons: Mothers and Other Strangers (2021)
Stop retconning this show
We all know that Abe told Homer his mom died while he was at the movies. He held this belief for 27 years before learning that she was still alive. I don't know if the problem is writers who don't know the shows history, or that they just don't care.
Also, can we please stop pretending that Mona is ANYTHING other than a bad mom?
The Simpsons: The Star of the Backstage (2021)
Stop Trying to Retcon This Show
An episode that was bad from beginning to end. No decent jokes, and the songs were lackluster. A musical episode could have been great, but this one fell short. The Simpsons has had many great songs over the years. Examples include, every song in A Streetcar Named Marge, See My Vest, Dr Zaius, Happy Birthday Lisa, and many more.
Sasha spent the entire episode trying to make Marge's life more difficult, yet when Marge finally outs her as being a fraud, we're expected to look at Marge as being in the wrong? I don't think so.
As I said in the title: enough with trying to retcon this show. As we know from the original episodes where Marge and Homer began going out, not only was Marge the more popular of the two, but Homer wasn't popular at all.
The Simpsons: Do Pizza Bots Dream of Electric Guitars (2021)
Hip-Hop Homer in the '90s?!
This is coming from someone who has no problem defending The Simpsons 30+ years on. Stop attempting to retcon The Simpsons! Homer was never in a Nirvana rip-off band, and he didn't work at this place in the '90s (he was mocking Ice Ice Baby, so it had to be 1990 at the earliest).
How was JJ Abrams able to steal the robots with no repercussions? Buying the rights to an IP doesn't magically grant you ownership of all memorabilia of said IP.
Lastly, a troll and someone "critiquing" the direction an IP is going are not inherently synonymous. While they sometimes can be the same thing, just because someone doesn't like what you're doing, it doesn't mean that they're a troll.
The Simpsons: Sorry Not Sorry (2020)
No apology deserved
Sorry, but Ms. Hoover doesn't deserve an apology. She is, always has been, and will probably always be a bad teacher. It's too bad that her back hurts and she has to ride a bus to work, but that's no excuse for being quite so bad at her job.
The stuff that took place during detention was somewhat entertaining. Maybe that would have been a better idea for an episode.
The Simpsons: Now Museum, Now You Don't (2020)
Not Bad
A decent episode overall, with an interesting take on the topic of art. I just can't help but be massively distracted every time Carl speaks. Couldn't they have gotten someone who at least sounds kind of like the original voice?
Dispatches from Elsewhere: The Boy (2020)
What?
As a stand-alone episode, I would give it a higher rating, but as a part of the whole, I just can't. Overall the episode itself wasn't too bad, but if you were looking for answers regarding any part of the show previous to now, too bad.
I get the point of the episode (they weren't exactly subtle about it). That's all well-and-good, but people (at least me) wanted an actual finale to the story. Who was Clara? Was it actually the Architect or were we lied to again? Was it someone else? Anyone? Was this all actually a game or was it real? What is actually going on?
Like I said: I get that the finale is trying to tell us that none of that actually matters. That we're special, not because we're unique, but because we're the same. That a lot of things which we view as important are actually just distractions from what is really important. That's an interesting take on life, I suppose, but it absolutely does not make a satisfying conclusion to a show. Sorry.
Also, as to the whole, "just grow up" message: I'm not sure if that was, Jason Segel, talking to himself alone, or if it was supposed to be a "deep and profound" message for anyone in a similar situation. If things were so easy to fix, they probably wouldn't be broken in the first place. Is there such an easy fix if you, in fact, were "forced to drink the chocolate milk?" Maybe I'm reading too much in to that particular message, but if someone actually has real and valid traumatic experiences in their past, and it wasn't just a case of things not working out the way they wanted, it's a little harder to fix things. Sometimes there are victims and villains.
So, like I said in the beginning, it was an interesting episode on it's own, but not when viewed as the finale of a series.
Magnum P.I.: Say Hello to Your Past (2020)
Nice Ad
Overall a good episode with a decent plot. If you wanted to learn all about the new Toyota Supra, this is the perfect hour long advertisement for you.
Doom: Annihilation (2019)
Really?
Can I give a movie less than one star? I love movies that are so bad that they're good, but this movie is just bad.
Family Guy: You Can't Handle the Booth (2019)
Trash
Not even slightly funny.
These two sentences are just so my review won't be too short. There is nothing more that needs to be said that the first sentence.
The Simpsons: Bart vs. Itchy & Scratchy (2019)
Worst Episode Ever?
Even worse than Sadgasm.
Who wrote this? Who gave this the green light? "Let's not only get political for no reason, but let's also make certain that we misrepresent both sides of the argument. Let's be wrong about literally every single point that we make. What could go wrong?"
Yet again, Lisa proves that her only purpose in life is to try and sabotage Bart at every stage. Is her ego so small and fragile that she can't just find satisfaction in her own accomplishments?
The Simpsons: E My Sports (2019)
Thanks Lisa
Yet again, Lisa has to ruin everything for everyone because she isn't the center of attention. Does anybody have a count on the number of times that Lisa has sabotaged Bart's success?
Lethal Weapon: Panama (2018)
Not bad I suppose
An air vent in a highly secure bank vault which a person can crawl through. Cars that literally explode when the gas tank is shot. Possibly one of the worst characters on TV is introduced. Other nonsense. If you can look past all of that, not a bad episode...I suppose.
South Park: Time to Get Cereal (2018)
Not bad
The story itself was alright, but the constant Red Dead Redemption 2 references both detracted from the episode and will cause it to age like a ham sandwich.
