Loki: 1893 (2023)
What the heck happened?
Can anyone explain why the dialogue suddenly became insipid and the acting so amateurish in this episode? It's painful to watch Majors trying to create this character. What is it they say? If it isn't on the page, it isn't on the stage? I thought this must be some kind of joke and was hoping for a clever ending to this episode, but of course, no. What the heck was that? I hope a subsequent episode might explain the necessity of this one. One positive was the lighting design, so applaud the gaffer and cinematographer, though there's plenty of unnecessary camera movement. I'm wondering if it's worth spending any more time with this series, or have the writers just lost their way?
Paul McCartney Really Is Dead: The Last Testament of George Harrison (2010)
I can't believe that I sat through the entire thing.
I find it hard to believe the filmmakers didn't get sufficiently bored while editing this nonsense to appropriately abandon it without finishing it. Is the narrator supposed to be George? Not just a very bad impression of George Harrison, but the worst fake accent you'll ever hear. Sure, this whole documentary is a gag, but they should at least find something closer to the real thing.
I would grant that the compilation of existing footage, as well as some clever alteration and manipulation of footage, is quite an accomplishment, but to what end?
Faul. Okay, that was a good joke. Well, not really. "Moxwell."
Birdland (2018)
How is this possible?
Everytime I think I've seen the worst film ever made, something like this comes along and changes that. I might say that the cinematography is pretty good, but that is the end of this thing's positive notes. The story is meh, the acting ridiculous, the score sounds like loops on a mac, and, oh, is she supposed to be murdering a jazz classic everytime she sings? How to make an hour an a half seem longer.
