Give it a try and find out for yourself
29 September 2022
I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I guess if you come into it expecting some kind of masterpiece then you'll be disappointed. As another reviewer said, at first I put off watching this for weeks because of some of the bad reviews on here. I forgot about it until I was bored one night and decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. I binge watched all the episodes in 2 days wanting to figure out the mystery of it all.

I always find cults creepy as hell whether devil worshipping or not. It also gave me creepy Children of the Corn type vibes except the cult has adults in it too. It does have some teenage drama but the story doesn't completely revolve around it. That part is just to show how she is adjusting to the outside world and to make you wonder about her true motives.

Overall, I'd say forget the reviews and just try watching an episode or two yourself to see if it interests you. It's the kind of thing people watch once and enjoy and move on to the next, nothing mind blowing.

Beyond boring and a waste of time
12 November 2019
This movie is a slow burner for sure. That's not the reason why I didn't like it though. It's one of the most boring and dumb sci fi movies I've ever seen. I could barely stand to even watch the whole movie. I paused it several times to go do other things around the house because I couldn't stand to watch it all at once. I kept hoping it would get better because of the good reviews I've read about it on here. Many of the characters were annoying, and that made it impossible for me to feel any kind of connection or empathy for them. The father was an especially annoying ahole and throughout the whole movie I was hoping someone would kick the out of him. As others have pointed out, why would some alien race come down to Earth just to harass some random family all night long before showing them what happened to their daughter? What kind of parents leave their 8 year home alone anyway?

It's ok if you don't expect much from it

If you're expecting a Dawn of The Dead or 28 Days Later, then of course you're in for a huge disappointment. If you take it for what it is though, just a cheap and cheesy zombie movie, it's actually not too bad. If you're a lover of zombie movies and you have nothing else to watch, give it a shot. It's not very good, but it was entertaining enough to keep my attention.

XX (2017)

Don't listen to negative reviews.
9 March 2017
I personally found this movie very interesting and I really enjoyed it. I think what turns many people off to it is that people often like movies that tell them exactly what's going on, movies they can figure out. XX leaves you wanting more, but that's exactly how it should be. It lets you come up with your own interpretations of each story. It makes you use your imagination. You are left wondering just what exactly is it trying to portray? There are many unanswered questions but that's what makes it work. If you were given all the answers it would only be a let down after the stories being so built up. It's not a typical horror movie. It isn't just about blood and guts and killing people. I would categorize it as more of a suspense. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting for what may be coming next. If you are the type of person that wants an answer to everything that happens in a movie, then this is not for you. If you don't mind open ended movies that leave you wondering and coming up with all kinds of theories on what each story might mean, then I think you will really enjoy this movie.
