Kojak (1973–1978)
Greatest Detective Show Of All Time - But No More Seasons!
29 December 2005
This was definitely a groundbreaking show with such an indomitable lead in Telly Savalas, whose screen presence is all but unmatched. It was clear to me when they released this set that its purpose was to promote the new Kojak series with Ving Rhames (since canceled), but I still assumed the release of one season must lead to the release of the remaining three.

Apparently not so.

After contacting Universal Home Video on this issues, I have been informed that they have no intention at all of releasing the rest of Kojak on DVD, must to my chagrin and annoyance. What a lousy way to treat the loyal fans of the show and loyal customer base for these unreleased shows! I highly recommend everyone who wants to see more Kojak contact Universal Home Video at the address below and demand the release of seasons 2-4.

What an awful film, how disappointing...
28 August 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I went into this film expecting lesser Gilliam based on the mediocre reviews I had read and what I had seen in the trailers. I was deeply disappointed to discover - almost from the first minute of the film - that "The Brothers Grimm" is instead a very terrible film. Bad acting, terrible dialogue, virtually no plot, choppy, amateurish editing that only serves to confuse and disorient the audience, and virtually nothing at all happens for the first half of the film. Wooden, 2-dimensional characters never develop (except one, who manages a total transformation into an entirely different character at the end of the film with no impetus given for the change), and surprisingly enough, the jokes aren't even funny. Unless, of course, you find the abuse, mutilation, and very gruesome, bloody death of a kitten funny - which apparently Gilliam does, since it is played for a joke herein. Nasty. What a total waste of time and celluloid - Terry Gilliam owes me ten bucks.

Entertaining Safari Flick, Misleading Title
1 July 2005
While by no means the cream of the crop of safari adventure flicks such as the earlier Weissmuller Tarzan pictures or Hatari, "White Huntress" has its share of thrills and intrigue with a healthy amount of snake attacks and tribal warfare thrown in. The only real trouble one is bound to run into with this film is its curious lack of anything even remotely resembling a white huntress - no such character or plot twist exists in the film. I rented the DVD expected a jungle girl flick along the lines of the Nyoka vein, and although I was not terribly disappointed by the film I ended up watching, I cannot for the life of me figure out how it ended up with such a ridiculously misleading title. 7/10
