Avengers: Endgame (2019)
A perfect culmination for the saga but can't outdo Infinity War
While Infinity War was quite flawless, Endgame had a whole lot of loopholes.
1. The movie runtime could've been reduced by a good 30 minutes. Hawkeye was given way too much screen time whereas Captain Marvel's involvement with the whole plan was missing. She was touted all this long that she's this great superhero that's gonna save the Avengers but her involvement was negligible in the film. Sure she did a couple of scenes that put the Avengers back in the fight but all of that was shown within a minute each time in a 180 minute movie.
2. Didn't Nebula of the present warn Avengers about the sacrifice that the soul stone would need?
3. Time travel wasn't handled very well as compared to similar films and shows like Dark. If Thanos of 2014 knows about Avengers plan in 2023, doesn't that create a divergent timeline? There are a lot of such moments that create several divergent timelines.
4. It wasn't really necessary to bring every single one of the characters on screen. I would've been okay if Wakandan Queen or Jarvis or Joe Russo himself wouldn't have showed up.
5. The references to the older films felt forced at times. While the elevator scene was perfect but some of the quips and easter eggs were not really needed.
6. The final fight scene disappointed me a little due to the heavy use of CGI and dark settings. One thing I liked about Marvel was that their fight scenes felt real, most of them pictured in daylight. It was DECUs thing to film war scenes in an overwhelming CGI background. I was wondering at times during the last battle scene if it was really Earth. Titan in Infinity War felt more real than Earth itself in Endgame war scene.
