Strange World (2022)
Look beyond the cloud of stereotypes, things are not what they seem: give this movie a chance (1st two paragraphs are not spoilers)
Even if you're not into the stereotypical parts of the new movies, I still recommend you watch this one while keeping an open mind. I think it's worth watching because it carries an important message
I found the beginning weird, unusual, and kind of boring, but things got better and better, and here's why:
First of all, it didn't have the typical ups and downs of a generic Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, etc. Movies. Everything usually starts off with a fairly calm opening, characters get introduced, then they go on an adventure, and then there's the villain, the villain is almost always flat, which makes it very predictable, and the 'heroes' always overcome the situation and win.
But here, there were no winners or losers; not everyone was entirely good or bad; they just did things out of their impulses. Everyone was trying to do what they thought was best. And, of course, the 'underworld' theme is nothing new, but they took it and did something different with it. I loved how they portrayed that ignorance and stubbornness fear and cause our own downfall or how sometimes we need to look for a different point of view and open our eyes to new possibilities while being afraid and acting responsibly. After all, the existence is vast and we're minuscule. Only because we're small, we don't have to settle for small things; we can still make big changes and contribute to creating a different and better future as long as we don't bite the hand that feeds us. Lastly, the races and sexual orientations weren't the main focus of this movie, they were all living in harmony, and they didn't let any of that get in their way because they don't care. After all, things are already accepted and settled for them. In their world, they have way more important things to work on.
This movie has a much larger and more important message than that. It is cosmical and is trying to point out our mission in this world.
Keywords: Green energy, environmentally friendly, accepting, harmony, alienation.

Horror on the Surface, Satire Underneath
The Wailing may look like a generic and light-hearted horror movie on the surface. However, by delving deeper into the story's plot, evidences of satire that is related to the second World War and the Japanese invasion of Korea can be seen clearly. At the center of the satire, is the Japanese man who represents the war era Japan that had invaded Korea, resulting in the death of many men, women, and children and the emergence of "comfort Women" which was in reality the prostitution of young women and even girls. For instance, the young woman in white may represent the Comfort Women. There is even a a scene in which the Japanese man chases the woman in the jungle. And in another scene, he attacks another woman in an attempt to rape her. There are also other traces of rape and sexual abuse in women. For example, most women seem to have contracted a disease that is somewhat similar to that of an STD that has also transferred into men. And the policeman's daughter's thighs are bruised. Later, she also confesses that she has met the Japanese man. Moreover, the Japanese man's cleansing practice in the waterfall may represent Japan's attempt to cleanse its past, but to no avail. The whole village and maybe even the policeman stands for Korea, and the people are the nation. Nobody trusts the Japanese man, nobody likes him, but no matter how hard they try, they fail to drive him out of the village; he is there to stay and to make sure that everyone is consumed. One by one, the families fall victim to the Japanese man (or the Devil) who fall upon them like a disease. The disease then spreads until it consumes the whole village. Finally, the Shaman is a representation of traitors that allowed Japan to take over the country for their own personal profit. All in all, the movie has skillfully illustrated the horrors of the war, and the feeling of helplessness and darkness that takes over a country during such a period.

Why would they do that?
The movie could have been better. It was neither boring, nor was it scary enough. I don't mean to complain a lot, but since IMDb requires 5+ lines for each review. I have no choice but to criticize the movie even further. So, here it is: I liked the character development of the main characters. However, there was one person that I could not understand: the old man. I mean, was he intentionally portrayed as a funny and weird guy that said awkward stuff, or was he supposed to be the wise and mysterious guy who would eventually save the day? To me, his character was not suitable enough for a horror movie (Of course, I have seen comedy in some well-known horror series such as The Conjuring that worked perfectly). But this guy...he was way too awkward. And it was probably because of his crudely designed personality that I felt nothing when he died. For me, it was more of a "Oh thank God the weird guy is out of the picture, literally" rather than a "oh no, the wise man died, but as a hero".
Also, plot and everything else aside, please do not leave your child with a man you just met. Even if your house is infested with demons. Thank you!
Camera Obscura (2017)
An Unusual movie
The movie reminded me (as mentioned in the movie itself), of R L Stine's Goosebumps' Say Cheese and Die. It was more like a mash up of the Japanese movie Premonition (2004), The Dead Zone, and Dexter. Either way, I did not hate it. It was somewhat unique in its own way and entertaining. Also, what made the movie stand out was the unique soundtrack.

I wasn't sure what to think...
If you ask me to describe this movie in one word, I would go with 'Weird'.
This is one of those weird movies with a shallow-looking surface that contains more beneath its exterior; almost like the iceberg effect, just not as intricate.
The interesting thing about this movie is that even though I had watched its trailer beforehand, I still wasn't sure what to expect. So, as the plot unraveled itself, I was taken by surprise multiple times.
If you are into slapstick comedy along with some dark humour and a bit of action, this movie is for you. I also liked this movie's unusual style. I should also give credit to its beautiful cinematic effects and vivid colors. Hope you also enjoy it!

An intriguing and uniquely-made movie
I found this movie to be quite unique with a delicately intricate plot which I believe deserves as much credit as well-known movies such as Hirokazu Koreeda's "Like Father Like Son" and "After the Storm" or Keiichi Hara's "Colorful", with the difference that this movie is from the point of view of a female high school student who is just about to the enter the world outside the school's society and experience new things in relation to her gender. The movie goes through matters that we all have in mind or have gone through in such an age through the most realistic and adult-like standpoint. But that does not make it only suitable for teenagers or young adults. I would recommend this movie to any audience. ( of course, not children.)
