Mary Cassatt: Painting the Modern Woman (2023)
Really wonderful little film
If you want a short and perfect little insight into the life and struggles of a superb impressionist artist that has been sadly too often neglected from the mainstream do see this film. It's a gem. A great biography of a really talented and passionate artist with plenty of detail about her life. It shows that she was firmly in the same camp as so many famous impressionist artists at the time. The film also showed her later expertise as a fabulous print maker. The film Includes plenty of examples of her painted and printed work. You might have to search for a place that is showing it as sadly it isn't on in many venues.
Cyrano (2021)
What's not to like?
I completely loved this and I don't usually like musicals. I was shocked to find it was in fact sung and wasn't sure that I'd stick with it and was also unsure about the deviation from the original story line but oh my goodness I became totally hooked with the music. I thought the whole film just magical. Cyrano and Roxanne were just perfect. The balcony duet was just perfect. I First watched this film on a flight and couldn't wait to see it again with better sound. Second time round still needed a box of tissues. I really don't understand how anyone couldn't just love this. Don't take any notice of the 1/10 reviews.
