The Stalker (2020)
Keeps you guessing...
Straight off the bat, the score puts you in this suspenseful world. You can really feel the nod to horror films of the 80s. This film kept me guessing about who the stalker was the whole time. It was really interesting to see them play with the cinematography and add to the creepy air of mystery. Well acted and fast-paced. Definitely worth a watch!
Older (2020)
Oozes charisma
It's no easy feat to act in and direct a feature film, but Guy Pigden has done just that... and he wrote the screenplay as well!! This film had me giggling from the outset, seeing a man so uncomfortable holding a baby, and the humor throughout balanced perfectly with the romance and drama. This film and its cast have a ton of charisma. Highly recommend!
Counterintelligence (2020)
Tension & humor
This film had a great mix of elements. The tension was balanced perfectly with the humor. It was very well acted, and the cinematography added to the overall tone of the film. Very entertaining. Definitely worth a watch!
The Berlin Bride (2019)
A perfect mix of surrealism & tension
I'm not sure that I've ever watched anything like this before. Super artsy and almost silent, this film relies on score and sound design. I found it very interesting to watch something so different, not like the formulaic crap Hollywood churns out these days. Definitely recommend!
Turnover (2019)
Lots of heart!
This film is like warm chicken soup for the soul. Kudos to the filmmakers for including such a diverse cast. Outstanding performances from all. Lots of heart!
Brown Paper Bag (2019)
Suspense & social awareness
This period piece seems particularly relevant given today's race relations. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and the insight it gave into Hollywood in the '40s. The sound design and cinematography really helped to create the world to place us in that era. Recommended!
Distiller (2016)
Creepy but fun!
This is a really fun indie horror movie with Ghostbusters vibes. I love the concept of ghosts being trapped in bottles of alcohol (spirits, get it?). The sound design created some good suspense and the film was thoroughly entertaining throughout. Definitely recommend!
I Want to Believe (2020)
Best UFO doc
Whether you believe in aliens or not, this documnetary is thoroughly engaging. It provides a pulse on what is currently happening in the world of UFOlogy, and I even learned a new term - USO - unidentified submerged object. Definitely worth the watch!
Everlasting (2016)
Mysterious & honest
This film does a very difficult thing: It manages to maintain a feeling of mystery and intrigue whilst also feeling incredibly honest and raw. It goes to some very dark places, and the leads carry the film admirably. Very much worth the watch!
For the Weekend (2020)
Very intriguing...
This film had me intrigued from the outset and it steadily built tension as we got further into the story. The acting was good and there was nothing predictable about the plot. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time, never knowing who was telling the truth or what I would learn next. Thoroughly enjoyable indie thriller that even managed to inject humor along the way.
My Senior Year (2020)
Not your average high school movie!
I love high school movies, so I knew this would be right up my alley. This film has a great mix of laughs and emotions. Lotsof fun, but also deals with some very serious subject matter very delicately. Thoroughly enjoyed!
Into the Void (2019)
Love story meets zombie movie
First off, this film is gorgeous. The locations and cinematography compliment the tesion and emotions that the storyline delivers. Terrific performances from the 2 leads that really has the audience rooting for them. Definitely worth a watch!
Sweet Sunshine (2020)

Lion Killer (2019)
A closer look...
This movie is ultra-relatable. We all have traumas from our past that we are recovering from, that have shaped us. Watching the two leads combat their demons through love reminds us how healing human connection can be, especially for those who tend to retreat into themselves. This was beautifully written and acted. Highly recommend!
Boris and the Bomb (2019)
So much fun!
This was such a fun film! I particularly enjoyed the fight scenes. Great choreography! I love when an action film is infused with comedy and neither elements take away from each other - and that's exactly what this movie got right! Great performances all round. Thoroughly enjoyed!
Yesterday went with Yesterday (2019)
Riveting & real
I found this film to be riveting! It has such a strong emotional core, and I think familial obligation is a thing we can all relate to. Very eye-opening with regards to understanding how civil war affects people. A very well made film, and I love that the cast was made up of the director's family & friends.
The View from Here (2017)
Heartfelt & Honest
Great writing! The dialogue was on point and the beautiful acting brought it to life masterfully. I loved the imagery of the city -- it really elevated the feeling that this was a real world we were watching. The story was great and the chemistry between the actors had me totally drawn in. Highly recommend!
Only Humans (2019)
Honest & powerful
Major eye roll to all the reviews claiming this film glamorizes pedophilia. Do you write reviews about what a terrible person Tarantino is for glamorizing murder? No. It's entertainment, people. Geez! If you don't hold a microscope up to these sort of issues, you will never understand them. And if you don't understand them, then you can't stop them from happening. This film examines relationships without being judgemental or preachy. It takes an honest look at the human condition and I truly appreciated that. I really enjoyed the ride this film took me on. It was well acted and it had a beautiful story that was delicately told.
Huckleberry (2018)

Steele Wool (2019)
Refreshing & highly entertaining!

Cicada Song (2019)
A timely & gritty film - worth the watch!
I thoroughly enjoyed this gritty drama. It's incredibly timely and topical with its content regarding undocumented immigrants and homophobia in the community. The mystery surrounding missing children and the disappearance of her lover, sees Karen take us on a suspenseful journey. Masterfully acted and directed!
Beyond the Spectrum (2017)
Footage and facts - no conspiracy theory here. Recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed this documentary about UFOs. And I'm not taling little green men - just literally Unidentified Flying Objects. Using footage captured by Nasa, and interviews with experts and Astronauts, it gives you a pretty clear view that there definitely are things flying around in our atmsophere (and beyond) that remain unexplained - and if they have been explained, the standard line can pretty much be debunked. Very interesting!
A Slice of Life on Barcelona (2015)
Gritty and engaging!
This is a true indie gem. It gives us a rarely-seen look at the darker side of Barcelona. The performances are emotionally driven and the director has honed these perfectly, The cinematography elevates the grittiness of the story. Very much enjoyed!
Perfect Feet (2019)
Highly recommended!
I like documentaries, but I probably wouldn't have chosen to watch one about feet if it hadn't have been from a recommendation by a friend. There were so many interesting pices of information that I didn't know - and it was all presented in a very entertaining way. Kudos to the filmmakers!
The Painted Warrior (2019)
Not your average sports doc
This doc was incredibly interesting. I knew nothing about the world of obstacle racing prior to watching this, but what really captured my attention was the incredible focus and drive that Stephen exhibits, his bond with his wife and the aspirational nature of their mindset. Thoroughly enjoyed!
