Fallen (1998)
Intriguing and original thriller
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie because of its originality. At the start of the film, I thought that it was going to be like every other detective thriller until the man on death row started seeing that old Rolling Stones song. The performances are fantastic. Denzel Washington, John Goodman, and Donald Sutherland are legends and it's clear why, they all have charisma and charm in every role that they take. I will say that the ending in particular was unexpected. I had never heard of this movie until stumbling upon it on Amazon. I bought it, watched it, and I look forward to watching it again in the future.
American Horror Story: Mr. Jingles (2019)
Loving it!
I have so many theories as to what can be going on at Camp Redwood and I cannot wait for next week's episode. The character backstories were a highlight for this episode, particularly Brooke's. Cody Fern did a fantastic job this episode as well. The cliffhanger ending was excellent.
American Horror Story: Camp Redwood (2019)
Off to a killer start!
I have been highly anticipating this season of American Horror Story because I love 80s slashers. The cast is phenomenal particularly Emma Roberts, who notably plays a completely different character this season than she has previously played. The cinematography was stunning this episode as well. I look forward to seeing how this season pans out because there is so much promise with the story.
Also, I would say that this is the most satisfied that I have ever been with an opening episode for any season of AHS.
Moonwalker (1988)
An enjoyable and imaginative anthology film that captures Michael Jackson at the pinnacle of his illustrious career.
Originally released in the fall of 1988. Michael Jackson produced/co-wrote and starred in one of the most successful anthology films of all time. The film chronicles several of Michael's most famous songs from his Bad album, released a year earlier, and tells an enjoyable, unique, and entertaining story for the whole family.
Songs used in Moonwalker include Man in the Mirror (Opening Live Performance), Bad (Badder Segment), Speed Demon (Claymation and Live Action Segment), Smooth Criminal (Live Action Short Film), and Come Together ("Live" Performance).
Plot Overview: Michael receives unexplainable (but very useful) powers from a recurring shooting star. Using these special powers granted to him, Michael in an effort to save his young friends must defeat a ruthless yet zany drug dealer Frank LiDeo (Joe Pesci).
Overall Thoughts: This is a very fun film. It is filled with dazzling special effects, outstanding music and choreography, fantastic set designs, underrated musical score, and a fun adventure for the whole family. Michael has a very good performance in the film (or series of short films rather), delivering genuine emotion, particularly towards the end of the film. The film is targeted for children and Jackson's fans, so I think that it is safe to say this film is not for everyone. My only complaint with the film is that it can feel disjointed at times and it has a mediocre script. But that is not to say that this isn't a delightful film about friendship, loyalty, and magic.
Ghosts (1996)
Another brilliant yet overlooked piece of magic by the undisputed King of Pop!
Michael Jackson's Ghosts follows traveling maestro (played by Michael Jackson), who settles in an old haunted mansion on the outskirts of a small ordinary town. After one of the young children tells an adult of the tricks that the maestro has been playing, many people in the small town mob together to confront him, lead by a devious mayor. The mayor of the small town (also played by Michael) threatens him to leave and in exchange, the maestro decides to make this encounter a game, whoever gets scared first must leave. The maestro then summons the various ghosts that live in the mansion and puts on an elaborate show to scare the mayor away. The entire video lasts about 30-40 minutes and is one of the most spectacular short films I have ever seen. With fantastic choreography and music, awesome special effects, a unique and original concept, and great performances by the entire cast (most notably Michael, who truly shines as he plays multiple roles, all of which are very different from each other) this short film is a chilling yet fascinating viewing experience. I personally find it to be one of Michael's most overlooked short films (music videos). 10/10
One question: "Are you scared yet?"
Expelled (2014)
Expelled is a fun, predictable, but enjoyable film
This movie is by no means the best movie of all time. The acting is pretty good to be honest, not Oscar worthy, but better than expected. To be honest, the adults performances are actually worse than the young less-experienced cast. A fun enjoyable movie that is like a modern day twist on Ferris Bueller. Cameron Dallas does a pretty great job leading this film and his character was like the likable class clown, he is always getting into trouble but he always manages to charm his way out of a lot of the punishments headed his way.
Overall: The movie manages to be the perfect late school year, or summer teen movie, that actually has some pretty hilarious moments. I recommend this movie for fans of the young cast (who the film is really targeted for) or people who want a quick light-hearted teen comedy film during a lazy summer day.
Party of Five (1994)
Party of Five is the greatest teen drama of all time!
Party of Five is absolutely the greatest teen drama ever on the small screen. This is a pretty big but accurate statement. Party of Five follows the Salinger siblings and their lives, relationships, and their troubles coping with the loss of their parents. It is so beautifully written, acted, and directed. They fee (and look)l like actual siblings. Coming from a big family with five kids I know what that relationship is like and Party of Five does it superb.
One of the many things that I absolutely love about this show is how realistic the show really is, sure some things may be stretched a little but overall I would say that almost everything that occurs on this show really could happen.
I can't get enough Party of Five.
I am very surprised that the show has a 6.7/10 because it definitely deserves a much higher score.
