If you enjoy voyeuristic violence and want to watch people suffer, be tortured and murdered without much editing, this is the show for you. There are eight episodes in this series, the villain is known from the beginning and everything moves at a snail's pace. I'd read that there were both English and Welsh speaking versions, but in what I presume is the English version I saw, it is also 50% in Welsh. If I'd wanted subtitles, I'd have opted for the Welsh version.
I didn't mind the bleak settings, but I do object to watching victims from the perpetrators' POV as it really is hard to watch (I kept fast-forwarding) and queasily voyeuristic. What message are they sending out? That's it's entertaining to watch women suffer? Thank you, no thanks.
So unless you're a sadist and enjoy watching people in pain or a masochist who wants to endure 8 episodes only to come to a totally cliched ending, I suggest you spend your time doing something else. I won't apologize for jumping from Ep1 to Ep8. As a character says in the final scene. "When all this is over, don't waste the time you've got." Take his advice. Keep moving.
