I am of course a big fan of the Harry Potter books, and as usual I am often disappointed by the adaptations of the novels to the movie screen.
However, my faith in the Potter movies was revived after seeing the Order of the Phoenix.
With all round brilliant acting from the cast, except for Daniel not being nearly as angry and emotional as his character should have been, the film proved to be the best in the series so far, in my opinion. Bellatrix was simply amazing, Tonks too, and Luna left me with my mouth hanging open due to her amazingly eccentric essence being captured perfectly by Evanna Lynch.
Every important part was saved and left in tact, and only little changes were made to save time (some of which were rather amusing yet exasperating I must say). I feel a wonderful job has been done to please fans of the books by turning one of the longest books of the series into one of the best movies so far.
Everything in the movie still felt pretty fast, with no time to "stop and think", if you will, but that is a feeling I've got used to with Potter films. On the plus side it was slightly slower than the Goblet of Fire movie, which adds to it slightly.
As usual, the sky high budget made sure the effects were still amazingly brilliant. Fred and George's firework fiasco was simply amazing, Grawp was great and the DA's sessions were true to keep the feeling of rebellion in the film.
So, overall, the film was one of the best, if not the best, of the Harry Potter movies so far. I'm sure I would have cried when Sirius was killed, if it hadn't of meant my social status being sacrificed, but the feeling was chilling nonetheless.
8/10.
