The Love Boat: Friend of the Family/Affair on Demand/Just Another Pretty Face (1983)
Weird episode!
The fact that a man would be with his best friend's daughter that he would have probably watched grow up is just gross. Poor taste in an episode, even for a show based on the crew always wanting to molest the passengers. Then you have the spoiled brat of the niece of the cruise line executive being aggressive and gross.
However, I always do enjoy watching actors you know from other shows act as different characters on this show. Seeing the Brady parents on the same episode was pretty cool. The show is well written but some of the episodes, like this one are in poor taste and surprising for that time from a not so distant past.
King Solomon's Mines (1985)
Cheap Indiana Jones Knockoff
Such a cheesy movie. It's like ordering Indiana Jones from Wish.com. The main character is like a cheap Chuck Norris. I mean, it has a treasure hunter type guy in a hat similar to Jones, a beautiful female co-star and they're at odds with the Germans. How does this not scream Indiana Jones knockoff? It even has Indiana Jones' friend from Raiders of the Lost Ark in it. I am 37:51 into the movie and I don't know how much more I can take. I think the best part so far was getting to look at Sharon Stone because she's gorgeous. Other than her and the head villain, I have never seen any of these people before.
Where the Red Fern Grows (1974)
A pitiful rendition of a great book
So many things left out from the book and garbage added. I understand there's not enough time to add everything on film but key parts and changing of the story made it unbearable. There's so much story to tell from the book and in my opinion a terrible disservice to the author. I stopped watching when they changed the coon hunt championship. If you're going to tell the story on film, why change what the author wrote in such a dramatic way? The book had so much more about the town, the family and the events leading up to earning the money for the dogs. Furthermore, there was so much more story to tell them the small screen time the ghost coon and the big white oak received. What a waste.
